Tucson: Arizona Onstage Productions - LA CAGE AUX FOLLES - auditions

Subject: Arizona Onstage Productions - CASTING LA CAGE AUX FOLLES - auditions

Arizona Onstage Productions, an MAC Award winning professional (yup, we pay our artists...) theater organization will be presenting the Tony Award winning musical LA CAGE AUX FOLLES on the main stage of The Temple of Music and Art for a two weekend run late this summer - in the same time slot as last year's hit SWEENEY TODD...

It will be directed by Annette Hillman (Jewtopia, Gutenberg! The Musical!) assistant direction by Fred Rodriguez, Music direction by Khris Dodge, and choreography by Debbie Runge.

At this point we are casting two catagories -

Le Cagelles - men and women who can sing and dance and look like and believe they are the most breathtaking women to ever hit the stage on the french Riviera.  We are especially looking for men/women who can tap, high kick, and work the room.  Drag background not expected, but your love of it is...  Please note, only 4 Cagelles tap.  We are looking for 10 - 12 Cagelles. 3 - 4 women Cagelles.

Townspeople/patrons

Of all ages and sizes - must have joy, be on pitch, and be friendly to each and all.  I am very much looking for that professional actor who comes in, gives everything, and is respectful to everyone and every situation:  being focused during rehearsals (including not talking, etc.) as well as performances is a must.

Out of this group of people we will cast other characters.

Please note that the following roles have been cast -

Albin
Georges
Marie Dindon
Dindon
Jaqueline

The first round of auditions will be January 28th from 3pm to 6pm.  They will be held at the rehearsal hall of Arizona Onstage Productions, located in the Redondo Towers Building downtown.  Please come in ready to sing and wow.  We will have a pianist.

EMAIL Founding Artistic Director Kevin Johnson at kjohnson.stage@gmail.com and put LA CAGE AUDITION in the subject line and I will schedule a 10 minute slot for you.  This is a show about joy, love and acceptance... please bring that to the audition.

Thanks,

Kevin Johnson
Founding Artistic Director
Arizona Onstage Productions

Tucosn: January 2012 Discount on Comedy Improv at The Studio for Actors

Taste of Improv Class

The Studio for Actors is offering a "Taste of Improv Class." Here's how it works. Just come on one Wednesday night from 6:30pm-8:00pm for only $30. This class is normally $40, but for the evenings of January 11 or January 25, you can attend for $30 for one class only, and see how much you love studying improv at The Studio.*

So, if you've always wondered (or if you've never wondered) if you would enjoy comedy improv, this is your chance to check it out.

Call (520) 881-2363 to sign up.  To qualify for the discounted price, you must say the words "Taste of Improv Class" when you call.

* Limit one $30 class per person.

Comedy Improvisation

What a wonderful class to get you to think fast, think on your feet, loosen up your body, and how you move.  In this class, you're also taught dialects.  You don't have to be a "funny person" to do really well in this class, to have a fantastic time, and to learn a great deal.  Comedy improv isn't half as hard as it looks when you learn it from a former Saturday Night Live cast member.  Anna gives you the keys: formats, dialects, and structure.  Come play, have a ball, and enjoy discovering how funny you can be.  Also, for acting students, studying comedy improv loosens up the body, helps you think fast on your feet, introduces dialects, and sharpens your timing.

4 consecutive Wednesday nights
6:30pm-8:00pm
Start on any Wednesday (but you must call first to sign up).
$40 per week
(If you have to miss one of them, you just pay for it and then take class 5 free.)
