Arizona Theatre Company's Cafe Bohemia presents Intermezzo

Intermezzo

Poetry, Prose, and Performance
Live at The Temple Lounge

April 2, 2013 at 7 p.m.

Arizona Theatre Company's Cafe Bohemia presents Intermezzothe show between the shows, in The Temple Lounge at the Temple of Music and Art. Intermezzo is Tucson's newest and most appealing opportunity to hear the work of celebrated and innovative writers, poets, and performers of the Southwest and beyond.

Each monthly evening of readings and performances, throughout ATC's season, is curated by Tucson writer and literary editor Brian Blanchfield and held in the relaxed cash-bar and cabaret setting that makes The Temple Lounge comfortable and cool even when the mainstage is between productions.

The premiere evening of Intermezzo brings together two of Tucson's own accomplished and experimental writers, Samuel Ace and Karen Brennan. $5 recommended door cover.

Samuel Ace is the author of three collections of poetry: Normal Sex, Home in Three Days. Don’t Wash., and, most recently, Stealth, co-authored with Maureen Seaton (Chax Press). His new collection, I Met a Man, was a finalist for the 2012 National Poetry Series. He lives in Tucson, AZ and Truth or Consequences, NM.

Karen Brennan is the author of six books—most recently a book of poems, The Real Enough World (Wesleyan Univ Press), and a collection of fiction, The Garden in Which I Walk (FC2). Her 2002 memoir, Being With Rachel was published by WW Norton and nominated for a Pulitzer Prize. Her latest work, The Good Dark, is forthcoming from Four Way Books. A former professor of graduate creative writing at University of Utah, Brennan has been faculty at Warren Wilson College since 1992.

The second installment of CafĂ© Bohemia’s Intermezzo on May 7, 2013 will feature fiction writer Joy Williams and poet Brandon Shimoda. Mark your calendars for that as well.
