Subject: Troubadour Theatre casting male-identifying actors age 13-18 for Singin' in the Rain
Troubadour Theatre is looking for a young male-identifying actor age 13-18 to play the character of Don Lockwood in our upcoming production of Singin' in the Rain Jr. This is performed as part of our Broadway Bound musical theatre camp, and we are in need of male-identifying actors capable of taking on this leading role. This is a youth production, so actor must be 18 years old or younger.
If any other youth theatre directors see this, we would appreciate it if you have any actors in your programs you think would be a good fit you could forward this information to.
Singing and acting skills/training are needed, as well as basic dance skills (does not need advanced dance training as long as they could pick up basic choreo). Singing skills are more important than dance experience for our casting.
Auditions are on the first day of camp on June 30 (but if anyone is interested only in this role specifically, and would like to audition in advance, we can arrange that). Scholarships to the camp are available for anyone who is interested but can't pay the camp fee.
Camp/rehearsals run weekdays June 30-July 18 9:00am-4:30pm each day (no camp on July 4). Rehearsals will be in the rehearsal hall at Arizona Theatre Company 330 S Scott Ave. Performances take place at Scoundrel & Scamp Theatre, 738 N 5th Ave. Performances will be 3:30 and 6:00 on Friday July 18.
You can read about our camps on our website here, http://www.troubadourtheatre.com/camps The Broadway Bound camp is listed as full, but we have one opening we are holding for a male-identifying actor who could potentially play Don Lockwood. Please email Kristen Wheeler at troubadourtheatre@yahoo.com if you are interested. You can also call 520-980-9578 with questions.
