Subject: Press Release: Strindberg's THE FATHER Comes to Tucson This October
Differently Abled Entertainment Presents: August Strindberg's THE FATHER
A Family Torn by Power and Doubt
Differently Abled Entertainment (DAE) is proud to bring to the stage August Strindberg's explosive masterpiece THE FATHER. This gripping psychological drama, first performed in 1887, explores the clash of love, loyalty, and control within a family consumed by mistrust and power struggles.
Banned in several countries for more than two decades due to its controversial themes of marriage, gender roles, and authority, THE FATHER is considered one of Strindberg's most provocative and enduring works. Its raw honesty and emotional intensity continue to resonate more than a century later, sparking conversations that remain just as relevant today.
Audiences can expect not only a moving theatrical experience but also a chance to engage with the material on a deeper level: each performance will be followed by a special audience Q&A with the cast and director.

About the Play
When THE FATHER debuted in the late 19th century, its stark depiction of domestic conflict shook audiences and challenged traditional notions of marriage and authority. Many theaters refused to stage it, and the play was banned outright in some countries for more than 20 years. Today, it is regarded as a groundbreaking work of modern drama, often compared to Ibsen's A Doll's House for its bold confrontation of social norms.
