Wolfe Bowart’s The WoBo Show returns to the S&S! Join us for four very different shows featuring the hilarious Wolfe Bowart and Xochitl Martinez plus special guests - catch one or see all four in our Season 8 series. Wolfe Bowart is the creator and actor behind such zany magical works as Cloud Soup, LaLaLuna, OAF, and One Twig at a Time. Enjoyed by audiences the world over, Wolfe’s shows are theatrical experiences that evoke thought, wonder, and laughter — a joyful celebration of oddity, creating dreamlike sequences that inspire delight.

Acrobatics, juggling, magic, and all of Wolfe's tricks of the trade will surprise and charm audiences of all ages. Newly created physical theater using mime, clown, circus arts will feature next to beloved scenes from Wolfe’s award-winning theater works that have toured to 25 countries worldwide.

Wolfe and Xochitl were recently featured on AZPM’s Arizona Illustrated.

Division/Department: Old Tucson Entertainment (OTE)/Yuletide

Job Title: Cast Member-Yuletide

Reports To: Cast Supervisor

Type of position: Non-Exempt, Hourly

Employee Classification: Seasonal

Compensation: $15 - $19 per hour

 

 

Job Summary: Cast Members will be portraying lead characters and various townspeople and ensemble character positions for our Yuletide season. Cast members will be working under a specific script yet will be required at times to improvise during the event within their character. Cast Members will also be working in an environment where direct interaction with audience members of all ages will be essential to achieve the desired feel of the show. Some singing and choreography will be required of certain Cast Members. Some Cast Members will be involved in fight choreography and limited stunts. Some Cast Members will be asked to swing multiple roles or understudy lead roles.

 

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Memorization and performance of scripted scenes while playing various characters.
• Learn staging, music, choreography, and fight choreography.
• Receive new dialogue and memorize in a timely manner.
• Learn and perform songs.
• Become familiar with company guidelines and rules.
• Maintain a safe, welcoming, positive, and inclusive working environment and advises management with related concerns.
• Other duties as assigned.

Education, Skill and Work Experience Requirements:

• Ability to work up to long days with prolonged standing
• Prior acting and/or improvisation experience
• Prior work in theme park events and non-traditional performance environments
• Ability to be flexible and adaptive to an everchanging environment. 
• Ability and willingness to work evenings, weekends, and late hours as production schedule may dictate
• Commitment to working under shared leadership and in cross-functional teams

Work Environment:

• Standing, walking, and running in locations with unbalanced footing.
• Varying temperatures and weather conditions; both indoor and outdoor. 
• Fast paced and exciting environment.
• Evening and Weekend work

Welcome to Almost, Maine, a place that's so far north, it's almost not in the United States. It's almost in Canada. And it's not quite a town, because its residents never got around to getting organized. So it almost doesn't exist. One cold and clear, winter night, as the northern lights hover in the star-filled sky above, the residents of Almost, Maine, find themselves falling in and out of love in unexpected and truly hilarious ways. Knees are bruised.

In the segregated, elitist world of 1950s amateur lawn tennis, two outsiders — one an African-American, and the other a Jewish Englishwoman — join forces to dominate centre court and revolutionize the sport. Althea Gibson and Angela Buxton were not only unbeatable doubles partners but lifelong friends and two barrier-breaking female champions. Their example has much to teach us today about overcoming discrimination and transcending personal tragedy. SWEET SPOT explores their climb to the peak of their sport, decline into relative obscurity and coming-to-terms through the power of a singular friendship.

Several years ago, Fred found himself on a mission to explore every California Mission. What started out as a 'geek's road trip' became an examination of his fellow tourists and Mission personnel. Some were experts on the Catholic Church, a few experts on Native American history, and others are experts on…everything else. There is no rest for the weary or the funny, this weekend we turn our attention to Halloween! As always we haunt the weekend with hilarious shows. Friday night The Soapbox features Cindy Pastorius and Noelle Horvat telling spooky stories and the second half is our annual tradition of The Bat AKA improv in the dark! It's lights off laughs up, but remember in the dark no one can see you laugh! Then on Saturday night, our second annual tradition of costume comedy show gets its second run this year in Creepin' It Real: A Really Funny Show. Then at 9 pm, you can't miss our live and improvised true crime podcast the SpOoOoOky Girls with openers Slumber Party Massacre.

In the Kingdom of Niceness, Fairy Princess Sweetie Poo has outlawed Halloween because it's scary, and she only likes pretty things and white dresses. Her bewitched subjects don't remember Halloween or candy, but one little girl remembers that she had a black cat who was banished from the kingdom along with all things black or scary.

Active Imagination Theater will be bringing this Halloween adventure this Sunday at 1pm In the Unscrewed Center next door to the theater! Children in attendance will be invited up on stage to be part of the show, so bring them in their best Halloween costumes!

Our Spirit Garden performances are just over one week away! This powerful triple bill program includes our 2024 Footprints at the Fox winning work Soul Bound, choreographed by Corps de Ballet dancer Brooke Amundrud.

 

Footprints at the Fox offers vital career development for our company dancers, allowing them to step into the world of choreography. This is Brooke Amundrud's second win as a choreographer and third consecutive year placing in our audience selected top three.

Our return to the mainstage is next week and features a world-renowned classic and two unique Tucson treasures.

 

Swan Lake Act II is an enduring masterpiece revered for its powerful love story, iconic choreography and the sublime musical genius of Tchaikovsky. The Winning Work from our Footprints at the Fox emerging choreographer's showcase, Soul Bound by Ballet Tucson Corps de Ballet dancer Brooke Amundrud, will make its mainstage premiere, demonstrating the incredible talent and creativity of Ballet Tucson's dancers. Finally, witness the highly anticipated return of Associate Artistic Director and Resident Choreographer Chieko Imada's Spirit Garden, a unique and vibrant ballet celebrating Dia de los Muertos featuring original artwork by notable Southwest artist Lawrence Lee and music recorded by local legends Calexico.
