OVTC presents Blithe Spirit, April 18-21

From: Sasha Case <casacaseaz@gmail.com>
Sent: Tuesday, March 26, 2024 3:30 PM
Subject: Tickets are on sale now for Blithe Spirit

Tickets are on sale now for Blithe Spirit, the Oro Valley Theatre Company staging of Noel Coward's witty, urbane play April 18-21 at the Gaslight Music Hall in Oro Valley.

Karen Kreider directs the show, the third and final in the 2023-'24 season for OVTC.

"If you want to spend an evening laughing out loud, then come see one of Noel Coward's wittiest plays that promises chuckles, belly laughs and a few surprises," Kreider said.

Blithe Spirit, the smash comedy hit of the London and Broadway stages, is based upon the plot complications created by a seance. (Doesn't everyone love a seance!) Fussy, cantankerous novelist Charles Condomine is haunted by his two late wives into perpetuity.

"Blithe Spirit is a comedic take on ghostly spirits, poking fun at our penchant for believing in otherworldly beings and their mischief-making," a description said.

Most members of the cast are familiar to OVTC patrons. They are Michele Holland, Arnie Krauss, Karen Alexander, C. Gilles-Brown, Ted Dreisinger, Ruth Ann Larsen and Sasha Case.

Kreider retired after 31 years with Disney in Burbank, Calif. She and her husband Bill Crounse moved to Oro Valley to be near family. Kreider has had the full breadth of theater experience, from props and lighting to set design, acting ... and directing.

Case serves as assistant director and production coordinator. Kevin Cleere handles the set design and construction, Charlie Gebow lighting and operations, Kathy Gillespie the costumes and props.

Performances are at 6 p.m. Thursday, April 18 and Friday, April 19, at 2 and 6 p.m. Saturday, April 20, and at 2 p.m. Sunday, April 21. Tickets are $34 for adults, $32 for seniors and active military and veterans.

For information, go to orovalleytheatrecompany.com, or call 520-529-1000 for information.

OVTC season sponsors are La Posada Pusch Ridge, the Lisa Bayless Team at Long Realty and Splendido at Rancho Vistoso.

Old Pueblo Playwrights weekily meeting, 3-18-24

From: David Zinke <dzinkmeister@yahoo.com>
Sent: Sunday, March 17, 2024 9:36 PM
Subject: Reminder/Incitation to attend OPP weekily meeting, 3-18-24

Old Pueblo Playwrights cordially invitee you to attend their weekly meeting Monday, March  18  beginning at 7 pm.  This will be a hybrid meeting with some joining via zoom (link below) and others will attend in person in room 50 at St. Francis in the Foothills MCC.  ( campus map).

NO PLAY READING IS SCHEDULED FOR THIS MEETING

AGENDA: Basic business meeting.

RE:  New Play Festival 2024

Clarification, commiseration, candid cooperation, careful negotiation, and kindliness please, as we discuss the ins and outs of presenting a two weekend play festival in a less than ideal venue with limited availability, resources, scaffolding, and manpower.

Directors are urged to consider not being prima donnas.

We must bear in mind that this is a staged reading festival.  No final production values are required or expected. This is not a competition.  We can't have all the lighting specials or alternate stagings we may desire.  We are all in this together.  Past festivals at Tucson Mall allowed no stage alterations and we fared well with three to eleven people on a tiny stage at once.

As a past festival coordinator I speak from experience.  We should have one stage configuration, one lighting set up usable for all plays, and all  adapt to those parameters.  Period, okay?

(enough ranting from Zink)

O.P.P. ZOOM MEETING ETIQUETTE   ENABLE AUDIO AND VIDEO TO PARTICIPATE IN OPENING GREETING SECTION Of MEETING.TURN OFF YOUR VIDEO AND AUDIO WHILE A READING IS IN PROGRESS  (ONLY THE ACTORS SHOULD BE HEARD AND SEEN DURING A READING) TURN ON YOUR VIDEO AND AUDIO TO PARTICIPATE IN DISCUSSIONS AFTER EACH READING.

THANK YOU FOR YOUR COOPERATION.Regarding our ZOOM calls - you may find it easier to have ZOOM downloaded on your computer OR your phone. It is a free application. [GO TO http://www.ZOOM.US TO ACQUIRE THE PROGRAM]

EVERY Monday, we will again present a "regular" OPP meeting via ZOOM. Here are the instruction of how to tune in.  NOTE: THIS IS UNLIMITED TIME USE. The link is the same every week.
