An anatomically incorrect rock odyssey widely heralded as 'ROCKY HORROR for the next generation,' with music and a story inspired by Aristophanes' speech in Plato's Symposium, this Obie Award-winning Rock Opera receives it's first full local production from ETCETERA at Live Theatre Workshop. Hedwig (Christopher Johnson), the self-described "internationally ignored song-stylist barely standing before you" and her band of eastern European misfits travel the country stalking pop icon Tommy Gnosis as he promotes the smash-hit album Hedwig claims to have written - inspired by her own affair with Tommy as well as a botched sex-change operation in the shadow of the Berlin Wall. A sublimely trashy evening dedicated to the pain of finding and losing the one person who can help you find and lose yourself.

 

Featuring Christopher Johnson as Hedwig and Danielle Dryer as Yitzhak with an Angry Inch comprising of Nate Jasensky (Guitar), Carlos Lopez (Bass), Paul Tiller (Keyboard) and Michael Fay (Drums).

Musical Direction by Nate Jasensky.

VientoFuego Productions is holding auditions for upcoming film projects on

Thursday, December 11th and Friday, December 12th from 12 noon to 6 pm.

 

The auditions will be held at 1922 Club Privado, 6310 E. Broadway Blvd. 1922

Club Privado is located in the El Mercado Plaza next to El Charro Cafe on the

Southeast corner of Broadway and Wilmot.

 

Again, the audition is in 1922 Club Privado, the suite next to El Charro Cafe

and not in the general restaurant. Onsite, we will do a cold reading of a

selected scene from one of several upcoming VientoFuego films.

 

Please be prepared to improvise in both English and Spanish. If your Spanish is

not fluent, please do not be discouraged as many of the parts will be also be in

English.

 

Auditions will be held in the form of first come first serve appointments.

Open Casting Call - Native Americans Wanted for TV Commercial

Alternative Marketing Solutions (AMS) Patty Dimitriou, a Phoenix-based Navajo-owned marketing agency, The National Congress of American Indians (NCAI), The Partnership for a Drug-Free America (PDFA), The White House's Office of National Drug Control Policy (ONDCP) and many other private companies and media experts have partnered to produce a series of television commercials addressing the issue of Meth abuse and a positive alternative to the problem. 

 

If you are Native American and interested in some experience in television acting, we would like to offer you the opportunity to volunteer to be a part of this exciting project and attend this open call audition. 

 

An open casting call means that anyone can try-out for the roles.  The audition will be fun and easy.  We will ask you to fill out a form, take a photo of you, and video tape you reading from a short script.  The scripts will be available at the audition and you will have time to read them before auditioning.  If you have questions, please email us at GFCsubmissions@gmail.com or just show up.  You do not need to make an appointment.

Local Tucson Playwrights, Actors and Volunteers are Invited to Participate

Playwrights who reside in the Tucson Metropolitan area are invited to submit scripts to Beowulf Alley’s Readers’ Theatre Program. Plays submitted should be finished pieces, thoroughly vetted and thoughtfully crafted based upon a critique process and following guidelines on the website at

MULTI-CULTURAL "FEAST" OF STORIES FOR THE MAGIC BOX

 

Support from Councilmember Trasoff & Ward 6 brings

 Stories That Soar! to Blenman Elementary

 

At Blenman Elementary, where many of the children have emigrated from countries around the world, Stories that Soar! (STS!) will celebrate the stories of their culturally rich student body.

 

The mission of Stories that Soar! is to empower children to believe in themselves by giving voice to their original words and creative ideas. Regardless of their age, ethnicity, ability or academic level, all children are invited to participate and all children share the benefits as their unique perspective and collective voice are honored. STS! begins when the "hungry" Magic Box invites children to "feed" it their original stories and promises to magically transform them in a most delightful way.  A few weeks later, the professional adult STS! acting troupe returns to the school with an original show featuring a selection of the students' very own stories. The hour long, variety style show includes dance, acrobatics, music, comedy, drama, amazing feats of imagination and a confetti filled author recognition.   

 

Through our collaboration with City High School, some of these children's stories will find life as picture books.  The high school students will add illustrations to the young authors' words and work with a professional bookmaker to create one-of-a-kind books.  

 

STS! will also perform the Blenman show at the Beowulf Alley Theatre for First Night, a family friendly New Year's Eve celebration of arts, culture and community -- presented by the Downtown Tucson Partnership.

 

To witness the magic of a live Stories that Soar! production, please join us Thursday, December 18th, 2008 at 9:30 a.m. at Blenman Elementary School, located at 1695 N. Country Club Road.

All of the girls of Phi are very beautiful, wealthy, and powerful as are their surroundings. These Girls ages range from 18 to 25.

MUFFY McDUFFY- beautiful, hot blonde, 18. Unfortunately, she’s also the dumbest but most arrogant girl on the planet. Wants to be a supermodel and is dying to lose her virginity.

 

MARY WHITE- 19, working her way through school as a pizza delivery girl. Very pretty but not flashy. Has an innocent dumbness to her. Wants to be a world-famous cook and waiting to meet Mr. Right.

 

BELINDA REYNOLDS- Early 20’s, the leader of the hottest sorority on campus. She always tries to be calm and in control. Beautiful on the outside and pure evil inside. She knows she’s better than everyone else. Some nudity required.

 

MATILDA MITCHELL- Belinda’s second in command. 20, and very attractive but always loses out to Belinda. Frustrated by wanting to be number one.

 

LUCY NICOLES- 19, killer body and knows how to use it. She’s the sex kitten of the sorority and an expert with voodoo dolls. She can seduce anyone and frequently does. NUDITY required.

 

ANDREA LARSON- 20, the brain of the sorority but just as evil. She is the smart, sexy one of the group. Unfortunately, even her smartness can't compete with Muffy and Mary’s dumbness.

 

SISTER SARAH – Early-mid 30’s, a nun who knows there is something amiss at the sorority and wants to help. Unfortunately, the demon knows how sexy she can be without the habit and corrupts her. Partial nudity required.

 

NANCY, CHERYL, FAWN, OLIVIA, POLLY- 18-23, more of the hot sorority girls of the Adelphia Phi sorority. Looking for attractive, outrageous girls who can bring something sexy and fun to this project. Some nudity required and being good at comedy improv a plus.

 

ALBERT- late 40’s, groundskeeper, friendly to Muffy and Mary but mysterious and weird although he’s really trying to help the innocent girls. He knows the sorority’s evil secret. Physical comedy skills a plus.

 

FANNY RICE Age 20s, lesbian goth girl, Dark hair tattoos. (Already cast, Tiffany Shepis)

 

SPIKE- twenties, tattoo artist covered in tattoos. Very butch and very into women. Fanny’s lover who breaks her heart. Strong physical presence needed.

 

REGAN SPANO- attractive 20’s college girl, athletic, plays tennis and makes the mistake of stealing Lucy’s boyfriend. Freaks out when a part of her anatomy literally catches fire.

These very "human" reindeer deliver on the crazy office politics we have all experienced.  What's worse: they know the "whole truth" about poor Rudolf.

Tucson’s own nationally known singer/songwriter, Namoli Brennet will join Desert Voices for their Holiday Concerts, December 6^th (7:30 pm) and 7^th (3:00 pm) at Grace St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, Tucson. 

 

Special guest star Ms. Brennett will also debut a brand new Choral work in honor of Desert Voices’ 20^th Season.

 

A winner of the Tucson Folk Festival songwriting competition in 2007, Ms. Brennett was the 2008 Best of Tucson award recipient for Best Performing Artist.  She is also a 4-time Outmusic award nominee whose music has been featured in the Advocate, Chicago Free Press, No Depression and Performing Songwriter Magazine.  She has shared stages with Melissa Ferrick, Jill Sobule, Michelle Shocked, SONIA, Alix Olson, Garrison Starr and Tim Eason.

 

She recently returned to Tucson from promoting her latest release, “Singer Shine Your Light” and now joins with Desert Voices Chorus as they open a new season with a festive Holiday presentation, “Down the Chimney”, an eclectic program featuring traditional seasonal favorites as well as non-traditional, multi-cultural music.

 

Since it began in 1988 with a handful of people interested in forming a community chorus, Desert Voices has evolved to 50 voices strong under the artistic direction of Chris Tackett.
