The Perfect Crime.
The plan was perfect, the people weren’t

Fair Films is gearing up to shoot a no-budget feature: At the end of three thieves' crime spree they discover the crimes were easy, it will be each other that prove deadly. 
The thieves come to realize no one is who they seem and no one can be trusted. Their plan for the crime spree of the decade may have been brilliant but it’s each other they’d better watch out for. 
We are looking for: 

Speaking roles;

Character: Soto; a psychopath whose only real goal in life is to amass as much power to allow her as many things in life as she can. Soto has both a jealousy and desire for Elsa and a growing destine for Guy. She thinks of John as a moron and Morgan as a nuisances. 
Female. 

Character: Cops 2 and 3; John’s buddies and fellow officers. 
Female & Male. 

Shoot dates will be March and April

No pay but you get a copy of the film and lots of good food during the shoot and rehearsals.

Additional Information:  The majority of the story takes place at night with only a couple of scenes during the day.

 

Synopsis:  The story is about a man dealing with his almost overwhelming paranoia.  Everything scares him and when his nephew introduces him to video games it presents one more obstacle he will have to overcome.

 

Characters:

Karl-Male 35-45

A soft-spoken man who is scared of everything.

 

Joel-Male 10-13

A kid reluctantly staying with his uncle all weekend while his parents are out of town.  He is constantly playing his video game.

 

Rebecca-Female 30-40 (no night scenes)

Joel's mom.

 

Auditions will be held on Sunday February 13

1pm-3pm 

University of Arizona at the Harvill Building, Room 104.

My cohort and I are shooting a Dark Comedy for our Junior Bachelor of Fine Arts Fiction film. We are in need of three MALE actors.

Here's the basic idea of the short:

Polar opposite businessmen, Jasper and Stuart, assigned to negotiate a business deal with intimidating entrepreneur Mr. Jefferies, find one common approach to appeasing him that they can both agree on: preparing an unorthodox dinner.

      -JASPER* (40s to 50s): A hippie type character. Relatively laid back, but energetic and lively in the right circumstances. Rarely wears suits, but works in the same business as....

      -STUART (late 30s to late 40ss): An upstart businessman. Very professional yet forward. Intelligent, hates Jasper's approach to business, barely gets along with Jasper. Always dresses professionally, must look business-like works for the same business as Jasper. They're trying to settle a business deal with...

      -MR. JEFFERIES (40s to 60s): A worn veteran of the entrepreneurial world. Has a stoic attitude for everything except food. Must be intimidating or have an intimidating presence.

Waypoint Theatre Company, southern Arizona's only faith-based theatre organization, proudly presents the 2011 season opener and Pulitzer Prize winning comedy/drama, Driving Miss Daisy by Alfred Uhry, produced at Waypoint’s performance venue, Atria Bell Court Gardens' Academy Hall Theatre, 6653 E. Carondelet Drive (NE of St. Joseph’s Medical Center), March 4-13, 2011. 

 

Set in Atlanta and spanning over three decades from 1948 to 1973, Driving Miss Daisy is sure to warm hearts with its timeless message of friendship, understanding and hope.  Daisy Werthan, an independent, aging Jewish widow is disagreeable and set in her ways.  She reluctantly surrenders the driver’s seat to Hoke Coleburn, a proud, soft-spoken black man.  At first, Daisy’s stubbornness and cultural prejudices cause much friction.  Slowly and steadily the dignified, good natured Hoke breaks down the stern defenses of Daisy as she teaches him to read and write.  In a gesture of good will and shared concern, Daisy invites Hoke to join her at a banquet in honor of Martin Luther King, Jr. Over the course of 25 years, Hoke becomes not only her chauffeur, but her best friend.  

Written by Uhry in 1987 as a tribute to his Atlanta-based family, the Washington Post once called this play “(a story) marked with unaffected grace and generosity of spirit, medium-sized miracles and changed minds.”

Waypoint’s production features long time Tucson favorites Burney Starks as Hoke, and Marian Wald in the role of Daisy Werthan, with Waypoint founding member, Frank Gates as Boolie Werthan.  The show is directed by Waypoint’s founder and artistic director, Melanie David.  There will be a special benefit performance with Q and A session immediately following on Thursday, March 10 in support of the Literacy Volunteers of Tucson.

(Tucson, AZ) Beowulf Alley Theatre, 11 South 6^th Avenue, Downtown Tucson, offers a reading of Gavin Kayner’s play, Accommodations, on Tuesday, February 8, 2011. Admission is “Pay what you will,” cash at the door the night of the reading. The presentation is at 7:15 p.m.

 

Accommodations is a tale told on many levels. On the surface, it’s the story of a mature woman, Jean, immersed in a faltering marriage whose lover of 40 years ago reenters her life forcing her to decide between staying with her husband or leaving with him. Jean’s two alter egos, Anne Bonny the 18^th century pirate and Edith Wharton the renowned novelist, urge her to forgo either man. While attempting to resolve this dilemma, we discover other issues are actually driving the play forward. Questions regarding mothers and sons, reality and fantasy, truth and its consequences. As a result, will Jean stay or leave becomes part of the larger question:  if survival is a matter of making accommodations, what can we say about authenticity? What can we say of love? What can we say of faith?  And what can we say about the nature of our relationships?

 

Gavin Kayner is a local, award-winning playwright. His plays Noche de los Muertos and The Language of Flowers have appeared at Beowulf Alley.

PROJECT:  

We are looking for stand-in's for "Desert Son", a SAG feature length film.  

 

 

TYPE OF JOB:  Feature Film   

GOAT MAN STAND-IN: Caucasian, 6'1", 180lbs, Dark hair.  33 inch waist

GOAT MAN PHOTO DOUBLE: Caucasian, 6'1", 180, Dark hair, 33 inch waist. MUST BE WILLING TO SHOW REAR NUDITY AND COMFORTABLE CLIMBING ROCKS (1-2 days only) ($50 bump for nudity)

ELLIS STAND IN: Caucasian, 5'10", 135, Dark Hair
ELLIS PHOTO DOUBLE: Caucasian, 5'10", 135, Dark Hair (1-2 days only)

SHOOTING DATES: Begins filming Feb. 9th 2011 and shoots for 2 weeks. Stand In's must have open availability as we will want to use you for the duration of the shoot. This shoots in Tucson so those closer to Tucson or those with living arrangements in Tucson will be given preference.  

 

RATE: $9/hr for Stand-In's and Photo Double's

Seeking a special effects/make up artist to create a latex/silicon pregnancy belly and apply it to and make it up on the actress. We want to apply the belly once during a shooting rehearsal and once for shoot. Will pay PRE-APPROVED expenses and pay the artist an additional $200.00 for the work, and will give title credit and a copy of the DVD.

Call for Actors/Dancers/Mimes for Performance Piece for Fringe Festival
March 24th-27th .

It is a dark comedy. It is 45 minutes long. The theme of the play is a
Christian Christmas ceremony with a hoyoka (Native American clown)
stirring things up. The play/performance piece involves questioning the
Christian church and the experiences of an abused child and it is a
comedy. The piece will be performed under black lights. There will be some
face painting. We will perform for four nights at Beowolf Alley Theatre.
Any interested participants would have to be available that week (March
21st-27th) for dress rehersal, 3-4 run throughs and the performances which
are at 7pm and 8:30 alternating Thursday, Friday, Sat. and for a Sunday
matinee. We need:

a very serious and controlling minister.
dancers
mimes
acrobats.
Girls and/or boys 12 years old or younger.
Beginners are welcome.
Stage hands.
Lighting/Audio director
Director
Make up
Costume person
Body Paint Coordinator

JOEL MEISTER MEMORIAL AWARD

We are pleased to announce that the Reveille Reaches Out Award has been renamed the Joel Meister Memorial Award to honor an individual who has gone above and beyond in their support of Reveille and who has promoted the core values of our mission: human rights, diversity and a world free of AIDS.

This year's recipient is William Mason. Better known as Mason to his friends and family, Mason along with his partner Joel Meister (who passed away last June) has not only been a singing member of Reveille for many years but a huge supporter and fund raiser for the chorus serving on Reveille's board of directors and chairing the silent auction at our Mardi Gras events for several years. In addition Mason has worked tirelessly for other LGBT organizations in Tucson such as SAAF, Wingspan and TIHAN. We are thrilled to honor Mason with the first Joel Meister Memorial Award.
