Teen Street is an actor training and film production company whose mission is to provide a safe and creative environment in which teen performers can freely express their creativity.  Teen Street trains actors while developing material for short film production, all of which is designed to highlight the acting talents of Teen Street members and to provide material for actor's demo reels.

Last season's short film, "The Midnight Man," a quirky horror short, is currently in post-production.

WHAT:  A one-minute monologue of your choice

 

WHAT IF I DON'T HAVE A MONOLOGUE?:  If you don't have a monologue, please bring yourself - we'll improvise something (don't be afraid - it'll be cool).

 

HOW TO SCHEDULE YOUR AUDITION:  Please send Steve Anderson an email at steve@steveandersonacting.com, along with a headshot or composite (or other shots you like) and resume if you have one, along with the time that works best for you.  Actors will be scheduled in 10-minute intervals.

 

WHAT IF I WANT TO JOIN, BUT CAN'T MAKE THE AUDITION?:  Let Steve know and you may be able to schedule a separate audition.

 

HOW TEEN STREET WORKS:  Teen Street members hold regular sessions two Sundays/month for training and script development.  Those sessions are each typically four hours long, leading to film shoots that take place in April.  Production schedules are determined as we create scripted material and production needs are defined.  Members pay dues of $80/month, and we fundraise for our production budget.  Some scholarships are available to those who qualify.  For more information, please contact Steve.

 

HOW MANY MEMBERS WILL TEEN STREET ACCEPT?:  We typically limit Teen Street to 12 members to assure that each member receives quality training and plenty of on-screen time in short-film production.

 

WHERE DOES TEEN STREET MEET?:  Teen Street generally meets at the Red Monkey Studio at Campbell & Skyline.

 

WHEN DOES THE TEEN STREET SEASON BEGIN?:  The season begins near the end of August and runs through May.  We typically complete shooting well before finals begin and take student schedules into account when creating our production schedule.  :-)

Auditions for “Arsenic and Old Lace" - Ft Huachuca, The Illegitimate Theater Company

The Illegitimate Theater Company, Inc. (ITC) will be conducting auditions for their upcoming fall production of a stage and screen classic:  Joseph Kesselring's "Arsenic and Old Lace".  Auditions will be held at Murr Community Center located on Ft Huachuca on the following dates:  24, 25, 26, 28 & 30 July.  All auditions will be at 6:00 pm except for the 28th.  Auditions on the 28th will be at 2 pm.  The show requires 11 males and 3 females.  Show dates will be the first two weekends in Nov (2, 3, 4 & 9, 10, 11th).

Taste of Improv Class

The Studio for Actors is now offering a "Taste of Improv Class." Here's how it works. Just come on one Wednesday night from 6:30pm-8:00pm for only $30. This class is normally $40, but for the evenings of August 8 or August 22, you can attend for $30 for one class only, and see how much you love studying improv at The Studio. So, if you've always wondered (or if you've never wondered) if you would enjoy comedy improv, this is your chance to check it out.

Comedy Improvisation

You don't have to be a funny person to love and get a lot out of a comedy improv class. I can make you funny. Because you have to focus in this class, you can end up both taking a vacation from the stuff that goes on in your life, and there's a lot of healing with laughter. Your coach is a former Saturday Night Live cast member, and will give you the accents and the formats you can use as a "safety net." Improv is a great stress reliever and really encourages the ability to verbally communicate. So, come, play, have a ball, and enjoy releasing your own special creativity.

Also, for students of acting, improv enhances your auditions, loosens up the body, helps you think fast on your feet, introduces dialects, and sharpens your timing.4 consecutive Wednesday nights

Start on any Wednesday (but you must call first to sign up).
$40 per week
Don't worry if you have to miss one or even two of the four classes. You simply pay for the class you have to miss and then take class #5 free.  It's even possible to pay $160 at your first class, and then take your last three classes whenever you can make it. (I keep great records.)

The Comedy Genius of

Montague Glass

Opens July 20^th

 

 

  The Comedy Genius of Montague Glass opens July 19^th at The Comedy Playhouse.

   Montague Glass was a quiet, unassuming man.  He had practiced law for eleven years, but he didn't like it.  So he began to sit at his dining room table and write funny stories.  His wife sat next to him and typed the stories for submission to publishers.  At last after years of submissions, The Saturday Evening Post published one of Montague Glass' stories.

   The story was an immediate hit.  Abe Potash and Morris Perlmutter were the subjects of the story. Potash and Perlmutter were partners in a cloak and garment business in New York.  Montague Glass has fashioned his stories around humorous anecdotes and cases he had heard of during his time as a lawyer.  Thus the stories had a feeling of reality about them and that added a humorous edge to his characters.

  Abe Potash handled sales and distribution, while Morris Perlmutter was in charge of design and manufacturing.  Never far from bankruptcy, Abe and Morris maneuvered their firm through the traps and pitfalls of the New York garment district.

  Montague Glass eventually cobbled four of his stories together to create a play.  The play, Potash and Perlmutter, was a hit and ran for a year and a half on Broadway.  After that, it was sent to Hollywood and transformed into a movie.  Both the play and the movie spawned numerous sequels. Glass also released several anthologies of his stories.

  Enjoy Tony Eckstat, Butch Lynn and Bruce Bieszki as they present The Comedy Genius of Montague Glass.  The Comedy Genius of Montague Glass runs July 20^th to July 29^th at The Comedy Playhouse. The Golden Age of Radio

Returns September 9^th

   The Comedy Playhouse will return its new series, The Golden Age of Radio, on Sunday September 9^th.

  For over three decades, radio regularly offered entertaining, contemporary, drama and comedy. On the second Sunday of every other month, The Comedy Playhouse will present some of these pieces.

  Comedy, drama, romance, science fiction; the sky's the limit.  Every presentation will be filled with surprises.  On September 9^th enjoy a visit with The Bickersons in "The Tax Refund."  Then sit back and try to beat Sherlock Holmes to the solution in "The Death of the Adventuress."

   Featured performers will be Comedy Playhouse favorites Tony Eckstat, Denise Blum, Butch Lynn and Joan O'Dwyer.

   The September presentation of The Golden Age of Radio will be at 12:30pm on Sunday September 9th. Admission is $12.00, with a $ 2.00 discount for students and seniors.

We are looking for 3 males and 3 females to create a new original variety show. The show will consist of dancing, singing, musical numbers, short plays and monologues, comedians and any other type of performance available such as magic, juggling, acrobatics/gymnastics, aerial arts, etc. . .

We specifically are looking for people who have experience in one of these areas if not more and who are looking to learn new areas. There is currently no pay but if we have a strong team we can move towards making this a paid endeavor. This would be a long term time investment with the hopes of making a career.

The Gaslight Theatre IS HIRING. Understudy roles are open for both male and
females and they are looking for actors and singers that move well between
the ages of 18‐40. These shows have 6 males and 3 females and roles will be
double cast.

All understudies are contracted to perform in a minimum of 10 shows. Must
have a strong singing voice, high energy and good stage presence.

***Please prepare 32 bars of two contrasting songs that fully demonstrate
your vocal ability. You may be asked to do a cold read and/or learn a short
dance routine. ***

 

***Please bring a headshot, resume, and your own sheet music. An
accompanist will be provided. No recorded music please.***

The Comedy Playhouse

 

Location: 3620 N. 1st Avenue, Tucson, AZ, 85719 in the First and Prince Plaza.

 

Production: "A Christmas Carol" by Charles Dickens dramatized by James Gooden

 

Run: November 30 – December 30

Days and Times: All Friday and Saturday evenings (7:30pm curtain, 6:30pm call) and Sunday afternoons (3:00pm curtain, 2:00pm call) in December and December 17, 18, 19, 20, 26, 27,   Dark December 24, 25 and 31.

 

 

The Comedy Playhouse announces open auditions for the 2012 staging of A Christmas Carol.  Male and female actors of all ages are needed.  Roles will be double cast for convenience during the holiday season.

Red Barn Theatre will be holding Open Auditions for their 2012/2013 season opening show, SOUTH PACIFIC.

 

Auditions are Tuesday, July 17 and Wednesday, July 18, from 7:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M. at the theater, 948 N. Main. (one block south of Speedway).

Please bring a song to sing (Accompanist provided), a resume', and be prepared with a monologue or cold reading from the script.

SOUTH PACIFIC will open September 7 and run Friday/Saturday @ 7:30 P.M. and Sunday @ 2:00 P.M., closing Sunday September 30.

Joanne Anderson will direct and Harriet Siskin will provide Musical Direction.

Musical Mayhem Tucson, the new musical comedy troupe currently taking Tucson by storm, is looking to add 2 - 3 Male Singers to our cast ASAP!

 

Experience is preferred but not required. You must have an excellent sense of humor, be able to work well within a tightly knit cast and also give stand-out solo performances, and be able to think quickly on your feet. You must be over 18 years old!

 

Auditions will be held at Colors, 5305 East Speedway, on Monday July 16th at 6pm. Please prepare 32 bars of two contrasting Broadway or Broadway-esque songs. A CD player will be available for use - a capella auditions are also welcome.
