The Fringe Cometh

The festival is upon us and it's looking like this will be a fun and exciting adventure for everyone. Our in-person shows are this weekend, Friday evening and all-day Saturday and Sunday, Jan 20-22, 2023. However, the beginning of the festival starts this Thursday, Jan 19^th. Thursday is dedicated to our virtual content.
 
Thursday morning on our YouTube channel, our first show of the festival will go live. It will remain on our channel until Wednesday, Jan 25, 2023, so everyone will have plenty of time to catch the show by Billy Clause, "Are You F**king Kidding Me?" At 7pm Thursday evening, we have our only live virtual performance on Zoom. "Mafia Anonymous: The Women Speak" by PINA, will be our only Zoom show this year. UNSCREWED THEATER'S 9th ANNIVERSARY!

We're on Cloud 9 and Feelin' Fine!

 

Unscrewed Theater celebrates its 9th Anniversary on January 27th & 28th, 2023! They're on Cloud 9 and Feeling Fine. Fine? YES! This will be the first in-person Anniversary Weekend Celebration in two years, and they're providing hilarious improv comedy goodness with guest stars both nights!

 

Friday, January 27th, at 7:30pm, is an all-ages Super-Sized Show featuring performers from all four Unscrewed Theater House Teams along with Special Guests AZ Daily Star cartoonist & columnist David Fitzsimons and KGUN9 correspondent Tina Giuliano. "Whose Line Is It Anyway?" style improv will be on display, along with an abbreviated improvised musical and a mini-issue of an improvised comic book.

 

On Saturday, January 28th, KDRI 107.1FM midday host Ken Carr will join Unscrewed Theater's founding House Te,am "Not Burnt Out Just Unscrewed," at 7:30pm for a family-friendly Anniversary Celebration. The comedy is created spontaneously based on audience suggestions.

 

Ken will stick around for the UNCENSORED 9pm show featuring "Not Burnt Out Just Unscrewed and "The Big Daddies," a 2-man duo who base their comedy on the best (or worst) advice YOU ever got from a father figure. Ages 17+ admitted.

 

In addition to the endless laughter, there will be big-ticket door prize drawings at every show (a $500 wine tasting for 20 from Total Wine for starters) and a 50/50 raffle drawing at the end of the weekend. One lucky winner will receive 50% of the prize pool, and the other 50% going to Unscrewed Theater, a community-based, volunteer-led 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.

 

Tickets are $8.00/Adults and $5.00/Kids (12 and under.) Like all of Unscrewed Theater's shows, guests can choose Your Funny Your Way. Attend the show in person or join the Live Stream celebration on Zoom!

 

Unscrewed Theater is located at 4500 E Speedway Blvd #39. The closest cross streets are Speedway & Swan. We're on the south side of the street, west of Swan and directly between Mama's Pizza & Sushi Ten and just two doors down from Dedicated gluten-free bakery.

Like many teenagers, Sam struggles daily against bullying. Unlike many teenagers, however, the bullies exist solely in Sam's head. With the aid of a strong, loving support system, Sam may have hope of overcoming the voices that torment them. Follow Sam in their battle against schizophrenia, and help us at Valley of the Moon end the stigma against mental illness.
The audience will travel to scenes throughout the grounds of Valley of the Moon in small groups.  
Warning: This show is recommended for audiences thirteen and up as some material may be disturbing. Viewer discretion is advised.

Santa Cruz Shoestring Players AUDITIONS for Once Upon a Mattress

 

AUDITIONS: January 30 & 31, 2023 starting at 6:00pm
Auditions open to ages 15+

 

Prepare a song selection of 32 bars.  (Please bring sheet music. Accompaniment will be provided. A bluetooth speaker will be available for pre-recorded music.)

Please dress for movement.

We run open auditions. You will act with a group and read as an individual. You will learn choreography and dance as a group. You will sing a warm-up with a group and then sing as an individual. You will likely be nervous, but we promise you’ll have some fun!

Only one audition block each night.  We will start promptly at 6:30pm, so please arrive a few minutes early to complete your paperwork.

Learn how body movement turns into choreography, how voice and music meet to sing a song, and how actors use words and actions to tell a story. Expert instructors in each discipline will guide, offer new ideas, and help build confidence - as always - in a positive, inclusive environment.

Sign up for this fun and informative 9-week course that will have you dancing in the streets, singing in the rain, and ready to tackle that monologue. Whether you are new to the performing arts, or have been doing it for years, each student will be challenged and met where they are at. Tucson Improv Movement amazing line up of shows this weekend

We just started a ton of classes at the theater, and it has been such a fun week to hear the laughter and see our classrooms full of people ready to ignite their comedic sensibility!  We still have some options open.  Our Improv 101 starting January 17th with Jessica Hill has TWO spots left, so if you want to leap into improv, grab your seat right now. We only teach our SKETCH 101 once, maybe twice a year.  So if you want to take Sketch Comedy, now is the time as it is starting Saturday, February 4th.  

We have an amazing line up of shows this weekend  On Friday we have the Jam at 6:30pm, the Soapbox at 7:30pm, and Stand Up Comedy at 9pm.  On Saturday, Your Favorite Movie Improvised has its first show of the year, and at 9pm we continue our run of Improv Throwdown.  At our 10 year Anniversary Show we did an Improv Throwdown section to highlight our Garage Door Era, and we just realized how fun the show is.  For a limited time only, AKA the month of January, you will be able to catch our short form Whose Line is it Anyway style Comedy Battle!  Don't miss it, and find out who will take home the street cred.
