Wolfe Bowart’s The WoBo Show returns to the S&S! Join us for four very different shows featuring the hilarious Wolfe Bowart and Xochitl Martinez plus special guests - catch one or see all four in our Season 8 series. Wolfe Bowart is the creator and actor behind such zany magical works as Cloud Soup, LaLaLuna, OAF, and One Twig at a Time. Enjoyed by audiences the world over, Wolfe’s shows are theatrical experiences that evoke thought, wonder, and laughter — a joyful celebration of oddity, creating dreamlike sequences that inspire delight.

 

Acrobatics, juggling, magic, and all of Wolfe's tricks of the trade will surprise and charm audiences of all ages. Newly created physical theater using mime, clown, circus arts will feature next to beloved scenes from Wolfe’s award-winning theater works that have toured to 25 countries worldwide.

Wolfe and Xochitl were recently featured on AZPM’s Arizona Illustrated.

Flashy, sexy, and fun, legendary choreographer George Balanchine's iconic Stravinsky ballet Rubies takes the Ballet Tucson Stage for the first time in this dynamic triple bill program. The passion and romance of William Shakespeare's balcony scene of Romeo & Juliet is captured in a beautiful Pas de Deux choreographed by Artistic Director Margaret Mullin. Associate Artistic Director and Resident Choreographer Chieko Imada creates another exciting world premiere, Barrio Viejo. This exciting new ballet created in partnership with the Tucson Desert Song Festival and the Tucson Guitar Society features the music of famed Tucsonan Lalo Guerrero, the Father of Chicano music and National Medal of Arts recipient, performed live onstage by renowned musicians.

We are debuting a reimagination of a show this weekend. The Improv Happy Hour will make its debut at 6:30 pm this Saturday. While this show time used to be a bit of a mix, every week will feature the same team bringing you short and long form comedy at a fast and frenzied pace. There will be dollar-off drink specials at the bar, and it's the perfect time to round up some friends or coworkers and enjoy some comedy on 4th Ave!

Is all fair in love? Even murder? That's the question posed by this light and funny suspense comedy about a love triangle in a Howard Johnson Motor Inn. In the first scene, the wife and her lover plot to murder the husband. In the second scene, the wife and her husband are plotting to murder the lover. The third scene has the husband and the lover plotting to murder the wife. A comedy of errors, missteps, and total pandemonium ensues as this trio finds all the wrong ways to fall in love, get revenge, and try to live happily ever after.

"Deputy Jan is a rootin' tootin' heap of fun!" -Taming of The Review

 

Our story takes place in the Old West, a time when cattle roamed free, cowboys walked the streets, and outlaws lurked in every corner. There's nothing to fear when you have Deputy Jan...right? Unfortunately, Deputy Jan is a coward and always lets the outlaws get away. But when the Sheriff tells him he needs to catch the next outlaws, or else, it's up to Jan to save the day. He sets out to take on the most notorious outlaws in the West, Hombre and Millie Nair, who have just stolen the secret family root beer recipe from the Rootin' Tootin' Root Beer Saloon. Will Jan find his courage and save the day, or will Hombre and Millie Nair get their big heist? Find out while the hilarious action unfolds.

 

Deputy Jan by Richard Gremel runs January 31st through February 16th in the Children's Theatre. Directed by Stephen Frankenfield and starring Nate Wiley, Rowan Sandeen, Emery McLane, Carlisle Ellis, Matthew Frankenfield, Zuleyl Castro, and Eddie Rodriguez. Showings Saturdays at 5:00 pm and Sundays at 1:00 pm. Tickets are $15.00.

Train at the beautiful University of Arizona School of Dance facilities with Ballet Tucson's exceptional school and company staff, in addition to special guest teachers Erica Alvarado of BalletMet and Sarah Lane of American Ballet Theatre (also known for her work as Oscar Award winning actress Natalie Portman's body double for the movie Black Swan)!

The tale of The Friendly Chupacabra unfolds in Puerto Rico, where the strange and fierce Chupacabra elicits fear and wonder — until a brave girl, Ana, and her goat tame the beast with friendship.

 

Red Herring Puppets’ The Friendly Chupacabra / El Chupacabra Amable is the third show in the collection of bilingual folktales based on stories from Mexico, Central America, and the Caribbean. This anthology of folktales, which includes The Barking Mouse / El Ratón que Ladra and The Blue Frog / La Rana Azul, is presented in a mixture of English and Spanish, celebrating Latino cultures and the importance of welcoming and learning from each other.  Each story features original music by Diana

 

Olivares and Salma Diaz, from Las Azaleas, an all-girl mariachi band based in Tucson.
