short that explores the lonely souls, unattainable dreams, and comic

Derek; 13-15 yr. old Asian American boy. He's relatively well liked
and moderately popular in his class, in spite of the fact that he is
clumsy, socially awkward, and desperately in need of a pair of
glasses.
Kiyomi; 35-40 yr. old Asian American man. Father of Derek and slightly
overweight, Kiyomi presents himself as calm and easy going but spirals
downward upon discovering his wife's possible infidelity.
Diane; 35-40, Caucasian woman. Mother of Derek and high strung. She is
determined, smart, and fit, struggling to get her degree while
balancing a career in the military and her role as a mother.

Production Information: The School of Theatre Arts Workshop Production Series presents “Top Girls” by Caryl Churchill, directed by Meg Tully. Marlene is a successful businesswoman in the Top Girls employment agency. While celebrating her recent promotion with a group of legendary women, she takes a moment to see just how far she has come. This allegorical tale explores the strides women have made in the workplace, and questions whether or not “getting ahead” is worth the toll it takes on one’s humanity and the ability to care for others. Adult language and mature themes.
The Workshop Production Series complements the Arizona Repertory Theatre’s professional training programs in classical and musical theatre. Comprised of staged readings as well as fully mounted productions, the Series often provides student directors, performers, designers and technicians with their first chance to share their passion and talent with an audience. Open to all theatre majors in the school, the Workshop Productions are designed to allow these young artists an opportunity to participate in staging new works, finding new voices for traditional theatre pieces, and experimenting with new theatrical styles.

Never before has a film had such a unique beginning. We are searching,
nationwide, for the stars of our movie through an online-audition
competition... America's Next Hot Movie Star.
Six champions will be selected by the voters and our judges; and, will
earn the starring and featured roles in the independent film, Last
Chance Grill. Assorted other parts, all ages and types, will be cast
from runners-up.
From the thousands of entries our viewers will make up the voting
community and will select the TOP 100. From the TOP 100 contestants,
the FINAL 24 will be chosen and will battle it out, through the
audition process, in a reality show format, broadcast online, at

There are two ways to audition for the competition.

Plot:
Mister Roberts is a comedy about a cargo ship in the Pacific fleet during the Second World War, “a time in the world when courage counted the most,” and the men that inhabit her. Present aboard are the tyrannical Captain, the ne’er-do-well Ensign Pulver, the sage ship’s doctor, the crew, and of course the idealistic Mister Roberts. The Captain denies the crew shore-leave for months at a time, so they devise comical ways to take revenge on him while Mister Roberts tries to keep them in line. What happens when Pulver makes contact with a real, live woman? Will Mister Roberts ever get his longed-for transfer to combat duty? And what about that palm tree?

ATTENTION TUCSON-BASED ACTORS: An up-and-coming film production company is casting a short thriller / trailer to be shot locally.
It is an expected three-day shoot for the lead; supporting roles will be half to full day. Shooting should begin in November. These are unpaid roles, however, food and film copies will be provided. Project will be distributed via the Internet and interest level is expected to be high. Some roles may have potential for ongoing projects.

CYT classes are open to any student age 6-18. Classes are held in the NW at Mt. View Baptist Church, 3500 N. Overton Rd. and on Tucson's Eastside at Fountain of Life Lutheran Church, 710 So. Kolb Rd. All classes listed below are subject to sufficient enrollment. Classes meet from 6-8 pm for students age 8-18; students age 6-7 meet from 6-7:30 pm.
