A doting suburban mother, Annie is blindsided when her son, Peter, falls in love with Julie, a passionate environmental activist. Unable to reconcile herself to Julie's radical worldview, Annie struggles desperately to keep Peter from falling further into the young woman's dangerous world. Now, alone on a vast stretch of water, Annie Iversen recounts the strange chain of events that left her stranded in her son's old kayak. Climate change, S'mores, SUVs, and Noah's Ark are all onstage as Annie sets out to save her son, and unwittingly throws herself into the path of events larger than she ever could have imagined.

“The Grinch” broke box office records for two consecutive years on Broadway during its holiday engagements at the St. James and Hilton theatres in New York.

Since then, more than 2.1 million theatre-goers across America have been delighted by this heart-warming holiday musical, which The New York Times praised as “100 times better than any bedtime story” and the Gannett papers hailed as “A genius of a show! A total delight for both kids and adults.”

“Dr. Seuss’ How The Grinch Stole Christmas! The Musical“ features the hit songs “You’re A Mean One Mr. Grinch” and “Welcome Christmas” (written by Albert Hague and Dr. Seuss) from the original animated series. Max the Dog narrates as the mean and scheming Grinch, whose heart is “two sizes too small,” decides to steal Christmas away from the Holiday loving Whos. Magnificent sets (John Lee Beatty) and costumes (Robert Morgan) inspired by Dr. Seuss’ original illustrations help transport audiences to the whimsical world of Whoville, while the Music and Book of Mel Marvin and Timothy Mason breathe new life into this timeless story of the true meaning of Christmas. Directed by Matt August, choreographed by Bob Richard based on the original choreography by John DeLuca and originally created by four-time Tony Award® winning director, Jack O’Brien.

Age Recommendation: “The Grinch” is the perfect show for audiences of all ages. We defer to the parent.
We do not allow babes in arms, and recommend that kids be able to sit and concentrate for an 85-minute show.

Old Pueblo Playwrights cordially invite you to attend their weekly meeting Monday, October 20, 2025 beginning at 7 pm. This is our third and final Hybrid meeting for the month of October. You may attend in person or via zoom.

We meet in room #50 on the St. Francis in the Foothills campus on the Northwest corner of River Road and Swan Ave. ( Campus map attached)

Old Pueblo Playwrights cordially invite you to attend their weekly meeting Monday, October 13, 2025 beginning at 7pm. This is our second of three Hybrid meetings in October which means we will meet in person at St. Francis in the Foothills, Room 50. ( Campus map attached) We will also meet simultaneously in our dedicated Zoom room. Member Liisa Rose asked me to pass on information about a series of online writing classes which begin tomorrow and run into November. Our meetings always open with a segment we call "who's PLAY ing?" to highlight theatrical offerings members have seen, are in, or wish to plug for various reasons. We then usually have a play reading or two or three. We follow that by a discussion/critique of the pieces just read.

Fall 2025 marks an exciting new chapter for PlayPenn's continuing education classes. We are proud to be taking over the educational programming previously offered through the Dramatists Guild Institute (DGI) and incorporating it into PlayPenn's own initiatives.

Our upcoming semester carries forward the shared ethos of both efforts: theatre makers at all skill levels deserve affordable and rigorous training opportunities outside of traditional MFA programs.

Need a little help covering class costs? PlayPenn's new Access Scholarship provides financial support for a limited number of participants this Fall/Winter 2025. Scholarships are awarded based on the potential impact of participation.
