Tucson, Arizona--The PCC Wind Ensemble, under the direction of Dr. Mark Nelson, performs the final concert of the spring semester. The ensemble will open with the popular “Overture in Bb” by Caesar Giovannini. Other works include “Hosts of Freedom” march by Karl King, and the multi-movement “Suite Francaise” by Darius Milhaud that musically describes five of the French provinces—Normandy, Brittany, Lle-de-France, Alsace-Lorraine, and Provence. The concert closes with “Chorale and Shaker Dance” by Jon Zdechlik. This selection uses the Shaker tune “the Gift to be Simple” as the basis for the composition. Performances by the brass ensemble, woodwind ensemble and percussion ensemble are intermingled throughout the program.

Pima Community College Center for the Arts is located on the West Campus just west of downtown and I-10 on St. Mary’s Rd, which turns into Anklam Rd. Box office hours are Tuesday-Friday, noon to 5 p.m. and one hour prior to performance.

Please continue to run in print and online through May 2, 2013.
