Subject: 40 years of School of Ballet Tucson summer fun! ☀️
Train. Perform. Transform!
The School of Ballet Tucson proudly celebrates 40 years of excellence in summer dance education!
Established in 1986, our annual Summer Workshop, presented in cooperation with the University of Arizona School of Dance, is an inspiring four-week intensive for intermediate and advanced dancers, offering professional-level training in a beautiful setting. Students study with Ballet Tucson leadership and School of Ballet Tucson faculty, alongside distinguished guest artists Angelina Ramirez (Flamenco), Madison Taylor (Ballet West / Pacific Northwest Ballet), Brittany DeGroft (American Ballet Theatre), and nationally recognized nutrition and wellness expert Jess Spinner (The Whole Dancer). The program culminates in a performance at the Stevie Eller Dance Theatre, showcasing new choreography and classical repertoire.
Placement and scholarship auditions begin February 8, 2026 and enrollment is open now!
Up Next On Stage:
An unforgettable performance of live dance and music featuring three unique works!
We continue our longtime partnership with the Tucson Desert Song Festival and Tucson Guitar Society with the highly anticipated return of Chieko Imada's Himiko. This audience favorite work offers a beautiful blend of ballet and traditional Japanese dance, paying tribute to the human spirit, honor, and resilience, and featuring music by Yusuke Nakanishi performed live by celebrated ensemble Duo Chinoiserie and Soprano Erika Burkhart. Renowned American choreographer Kiyon Ross's 10: Un-A'frayed Edges, a "colorful and fantastical" work that plays with speed, angles, and formations, makes its southwest premiere in this dynamic show. This performance also includes the world premiere of Tucson native Margaret Mullin's Desert Dweller, created in collaboration with Tohono Chul Gardens. Filled with vivid projections of striking botanicals captured by photographer Carlos Chavez and set to live music by renowned flamenco guitarist Misael Barraza-Diaz, this new work celebrates of the natural beauty of the Sonoran Desert.
Tickets start at just $35!
