MEET THE PLAYWRIGHTS

Adrian Cory

A UK expat active in Tucson's theatrical community, Adrian's plays have been produced on stage and radio, including Social Outcast (Canal Café Theatre, London), The Knight of Malta (Manhattan Repertory Theatre, NYC), and Terror on Edge Island (Narada Radio Company). He recently won Best Drama for Don't Feed the Troll at the 2026 Tucson Fringe.

Jeffrey A. Webster

A long-time stage actor and Coast Guard veteran now writing scripts and a historical novel about the maritime underground railroad. His full-length play Killing to the Sound of Trumpets had a staged reading in North Hollywood in April 2026.

Liisa Rose

A member of the Dramatists Guild with an MA in theatre education (University of Arizona) and an MFA in playwriting (SNHU), Liisa has developed work with Old Pueblo Playwrights, Carport Theatre, Fusion Theatre, and Returning Soldiers Speak.

Mel Hector

A Clinical Associate Professor practicing geriatrics via telemedicine at the University of Arizona, Mel draws on his healthcare experience for plays including St. Beseenya and Cecelia's Plight, the latter inspired by a late friend and Bisbee, Arizona native.

ABOUT OLD PUEBLO PLAYWRIGHTS

Old Pueblo Playwrights (OPP) is the Southwest's oldest independent playwriting group, welcoming both beginning and experienced dramatists. Members' work is read at weekly meetings and refined through feedback, culminating each year in a New Play Festival — and, this year for the first time, the Green Valley Play Festival. Weekly meetings are held both in person and over Zoom and are open to the public.

Sources of funding for the arts are getting harder to find. Donations help cover venue rental, insurance, and stipends for local performers — please consider supporting the festival.
