The Four of Us traces the fraught relationship between a young playwright named David and a young novelist named Benjamin. They meet at Musicians' Camp when they're 17, spend a few months together in Prague in their early 20s, and end up pursuing divergent destinies back in New York. What appears to be a simple "buddy story" turns into an Escher-like exploration of the relative value of fame and friendship.

Director Cynthia Meier says, "The Four of Us is a fascinating play both because of its simple truths and complex structure.  I am also delighted to be working with two absolutely wonderful young actors on what is the perfect script for them.  Our audience will be similarly charmed."

• The Four of Us previews on Wednesday, June 16 and Thursday, June 17, 2010 at 7:30 P.M.

• Opening Night is on Friday, June 18, 2010.

• Regular performances of The Four of Us continue on Saturday, June 19 through Sunday, June 27, 2010.

• Curtain times are Thursday through Saturday at 7:30 P.M. and Sundays at 2:00 P.M.

Arizona Onstage Productions is proud to sponsor the workshops of the play VILLAGERS - We are looking for reader/actors as well as audiences for this new text...

 

Wanted: actors for an informal audition to cast both a table and then staged reading of a new play. Villagers tells the story of the 1960s Greenwich Village art and music scene, focusing on Bob Dylan, Lenny Bruce, and Joan Baez, among others. It's a play about the collision of art, politics, and fame, and how a small group of young artists is affected.

 

Actors are needed for the following roles:

 

Bob Dylan: Early twenties as the play begins, Dylan arrives in the Village a shy, mumbling kid, and his progression towards becoming an unwilling cultural icon helps drive the play.

 

Phil Ochs: early twenties as the play begins, Phil Ochs was the consummate protest singer. To him, music was first and foremost a tool for delivering social change.

 

Liam Clancy: Mid-thirties as the play begins, Liam is a hard drinking, exceedingly Irish, Teddy bear of a folksinging man who forms close bonds with the rest of the cast.

 

Woody Guthrie: Not the flesh-and-blood Woody, but rather his spirit of sorts. He arrives in the Village confused and uncertain as to why he is there, but gradually forms a bond with Dylan as he struggles to come to grips with his situation. 

 

Jack Kerouac: Another spirit, and the third part of the show's "Greek chorus" along with Woody and Billie Holiday. Jack is in some ways the intellectual core of  the play—he is driven to discover why he and the other ghosts are there, and is often the one to deliver the most incisive commentary on the situation.

 

Several other small but important parts are also available.

 

The first table reading of Villagers will take place on June 19^th at 2pm at the Cabaret Space, Temple of Music and Art, 330 S. Scott Ave.

 

A second staged reading will take place on August 15^th at 7:30pm at the Cabaret Space, Temple of Music and Art, 330 S. Scott Ave.

Acting instructor and director Steve Anderson offers a film acting camp for teens, ages 14-18, at The Temple of Music & Art (Arizona Theatre Company) June 8, 9, 10, 11, with a special screening of student work for family & friends on June 27.

Participants will spend four full-time days in the camp, where they will receive advanced actor training that focuses on relaxation, kinesthetic awareness, creativity, impulsiveness, focus, and fun!  Participants will also create short scenes through improvisation, which will be shot like a film on days three and four.  Once shooting is complete, Anderson and the participants will part ways for a couple of weeks while scenes are edited for the special screening.  Not only will the acting instruction be strong, but the film production will be top-notch, with the help of Derek Griffith of Director's Seat Productions and documentary film-maker, Mark Braun.

Guest speakers include Harris Kendall, who played a recurring role on "Days of our Lives" for 10 years, and Brian Mulligan, past-president of the Independent Film Association of Southern Arizona.

We are looking for anyone with experience on crewing films willing to work on a major feature length romantic comedy to be shot at the Sheraton at 5151 east Grant road from mid June through most of July. This includes credits, meals, and deferred pay. The film will be distributed worldwide on DVD and in select theaters/TV/cable. This is an excellent opportunity to expand on your portfolios/reels, and we intend to keep reliable crew members on for future films slotted to be shot in Tucson. We have several documentaries and feature films planned for even more local filming in the upcoming months. 

We are also considering marketing/PR individuals eager to assist in that area as well.

We need 15-20 actors ages 6-12 to play fun roles in a music video. We will be shooting three scenes: 

1. Classroom Scene. Actors needed: 15-20. Ages 6-12. We will be having a classroom full of children being taught at a local school on the south side. The children will eventually take control of the classroom. This scene will take place Saturday, June 12th, in the afternoon (exact times To Be Determined). 

2. Gymnasium Scene. Actors needed: 15-20. Ages 6-12. The children will be rioting against their teachers in what is assumed to be their school gymnasium, in actuality a small gymnasium on the U of A campus. This scene will take place Sunday, June 13th, in the morning starting around 8:00 a.m. (exact time To Be Determined). We would prefer actors who can make both Scenes One and Two. 

3. Birthday Party Scene. Actors needed: 1. Ages 6-12. Must be able to cry or at least throw a fit. A sad birthday party scene unfolds into madness when the Clown makes the birthday kid cry. This scene will take place Sunday, June 13th, in the afternoon at the U of A’s Student Union Ballroom (exact time To Be Determined). Scene Three is a separate storyline from Scenes One and Two. 

We are looking to have a diverse group of kids in our video. Currently, all of our kids are Hispanic, so we are looking primarily for Caucasian, Asian, and African-American kids. 

We are a group of mostly recent U of A graduates filming for a local musician, so unfortunately, we cannot offer financial compensation, but food and good times will be complimentary for actor and parent.

Script Breakdown

This is the foundation course for learning the important building blocks to great performance.  You’ll learn how to break down the script, how to analyze the character, how to play him/her, and most importantly how to mark the script in order to give a really great audition.  Throughout the course, you’ll have two or three auditions, and you’ll be given lots of information and insightful advice about how to handle the important few minutes before each audition.  This course is not just about auditioning - it’s also a great acting class.

AUDITION DATES:

Saturday June 12^th, 2010 from Noon to 5:00pm (Preferred time-slot)

Thursday, June 17^th from 5:00pm to 8:00pm

SYNOPSIS: 

            When their transport crashes on a desolate planet, a detached teenager must protect her siblings from the machinations of a holographic father with deranged paternal ambitions.

 

SHOOT SCHEDULE:

Month of July.  Approximately 14 full-shoot-days.  The script is broken down and a temporary schedule is completed.  And while we would like to shoot it hard and fast, we are willing to work around the chosen actors schedule as best we can.

 

TALENT NEEDED:

Male - Age 35-45:  HoloDad - Main Character.  This character is a “real Dad” for the first part of the movie, but portrays a Holographic Father through most of the film.  Most all scenes will be shot in front of a green-screen.  This character needs to be Caucasian, fit, must take direction well.  (Will be required to be on set most every day of shooting.)

 

Female - Age 35-45:  Mom/”Jennifer” – Supporting Adult.  Most all scenes will be shot on actual location, though there will be a little bit of “green screen” work.  Actress must be Caucasian and fit.  (Only needed approximately 3-4 days of shooting.)

 

Children – All child roles have been filled.

 

COMPENSATION:

            Non-SAG/Non-Union.  HoloDad and Mom will be paid a cash amount at the completion of their role, and will be offered points.  Credit, Copy & Meals on set provided.

Performance Brief:

25 years of dance in Tucson. That fact in itself is amazing, knowing the volatile and changeable nature of the art form and these economic times. Nevertheless we have survived and are the first modern dance company in this part of Arizona to make it to the quarter century mark. To celebrate this milestone, the company has created a heartfelt evening of dance, aerial dance, music and performance art to be presented at the Stevie Eller Dance Theater on the University of Arizona campus. During its history, O-T-O Dance has created performances with hundreds of artists of various disciplines from many places on the planet. For this concert, we are working with a handful of long time, well known artists from Tucson and other regions as well as students who grew up studying dance through our school and now are young adult artists joined by dancers who have been performers with O-T-O Dance during these past 25 years

2011 Writing Program
Created in 1990 in partnership with the Writers Guild of America West (WGAW), the Disney|ABC Writing Program is based in Los Angeles and is widely recognized as one of the entertainment industry’s most coveted writing programs. 

About the Television Writing Fellowship
Writers become employees of Disney | ABC Television Group and will be paid a weekly salary of $961.54 ($50,000.00 annualized) plus any applicable benefits for which they are eligible in accordance with the then-current Company benefits plans. The program is designed to expose aspiring writers to key executives, producers and literary representatives – all essential in the pursuit of a writing career. Additionally, while in the program, writers have the opportunity to work one-on-one with a current programming or development executive to create spec scripts of series from the current broadcast season. The ultimate goal is to prepare and nurture the writers for a professional writing career.

ELIGIBILITY

The Disney | ABC Writing Program is not a training program. We are looking for writers who demonstrate the potential to be staffed on network and cable television outlets. Prior professional work experience in the entertainment industry is recommended. Post college experience preferred. Although one completed script is required for consideration, the ideal candidates should have a body of work consisting of no less than two spec scripts and at least one original sample.

 

This professional writing program is open to all individuals who are at least eighteen (18) years of age and who possess evidence of identity and United States employment eligibility for the duration of the program. Writers with Writers Guild of America (WGA/west or WGA/east) credits are also eligible for this Program.

 

If candidate advances to final stages of interview process, the review of additional scripts and referrals from working entertainment industry professionals will be required.

During Mr. Bennett’s forty years of professional experience he founded the San Francisco Theatre Academy, with film affiliates in the Bay Area and Hollywood.  He is a three time recipient of the prestigious Hollywood DramaLogue Award. Graduate students appear regularly in film and television, and are accepted in conservatories and repertory companies in the UK and the US.

Wieck Chamber Singers and Orchestra is performing Handel's Esther June 11th. This is a dramatized period production needing actors to portray, without spoken lines, the scenes being sung. This is not a paid gig. Venue: Temple of Music and Art. We need:

 

14 men to portray the Princes of Persia as well as palace advisors, guards, and three specific characters

 

6 women to portray servants to the Queen

 

4-5 children

 

Rehearsals: First meeting Sunday June 6th, 3:00 p.m. at rehearsal venue: Amphi Bible Church, 226 W. Prince (Prince and Oracle).

(Tucson, AZ) Beowulf Alley Theatre’s Late Night Theatre, LNT@the Alley will hold open auditions for Clown Romeo & Juliet! on Sunday, June 6 from 8:00 p.m.-9:30 p.m. at the theatre, 11 South 6^th Avenue (Downtown between Broadway and Congress). Please bring a headshot and resume. The audition will consist of a cold reading from the script, though prepared classical monologues are welcome. Performers with special clown or circus talents are encouraged.

 

Rehearsals begin June 9 and will be scheduled according the production team’s availability, usually some late nights, weekday evenings and weekends. Performance dates are July 23, 24, 30 and 31.
