The Pinnacle Peak Pistoleros Wild West Stunt Show at Trail Dust Town is now hiring. We are looking for both experienced performers and persons with little or no experience, but willing to learn. This is a part-time evening position (up to 30 hours a week), with some weekday and/or weekend day rehearsal hours required. Selections include "Carcará" a Brazillian dance choreographed by Gonçalves-Shaner, who pulls from her roots to illustrate the story of the carcará, a native desert bird of prey. The dance captures the movement of struggle with capoeira in the fighting scene. The vocal sounds of "Baianá" by Barbatuques and the use of fierce tribal makeup heightens the tension in the movements of the dancers. A student choreographed piece uses the music from "Titanic" in which she creates small vignettes of ocean life that blends different styles of movement in one cohesive and beautiful dance. A nod is given to Bob Fosse's unmistakable style in the dance piece "All That Jazz." Faculty Nichol Mason creates a modern dance piece based on the quote, "Surrender to what is. Let go of what was. Have faith in what will be." The dance is a visceral journey through human vulnerability, abandonment, trust, and acceptance. Another piece by Mason is a highly energetic, fiery jazz dance to the song, "Kill of the Night" by Gin Wigmore that blends classic jazz and thrash-jazz with a hint of burlesque. The finale brings humor and playfulness into the concert with "Crazy Bus." A hip-hop dance of audacious scenes in which the dancers move in, out and around a school bus to the music "Cagado" by Bonde do Rolê.

Looking for male and female villagers of all ages, plus male warriors (featured players) between the ages of 20 and 45 with a strong physical presence who are extremely proficient at riding horses, which will be provided. This is paid work. Set in 1880's Arizona, Deadmen depicts the friendship between a white man and the band that rescued him from a murderous outlaw. The Concept of this video follows a parallel story of two lovers separated by ten years of random separation. Man returns to his hometown after many years, decides to look up his old high school sweetheart.

Begins to visit the old places they used to hang out, The old movie theater, clubs restaurants,pool halls, ect. Realizes that his hometown has changed. Something is Missing, Something is Wrong.

In Parallel The Woman has lost her way in life. Has become a Prostitute. Dominated by Pimps, Alcoholism, and Hard Times

The Woman is desperately clinging on to her dignity and character. She knows something is missing, she knows something is wrong.

Man Discovers Woman after long search through city, asking family and friends where his long lost love is.

Man is beat up by pimps trying to contact his long lost love

After his humiliation, Woman rises up against her oppressor, manhandling him with his own gun, and walking out, taking a friend or two with her.

The two happily reunited begin a new life.



Video Treatment: This song is about redemption. The Look of the video should be random and fragmented full of images that depicting an archatypology about sex, abandonment, and loss. We are telling a story about rebirth. Discovering the past and realizing that the love and happiness that existed there once is in still somewhere resting in the future. The objective in the story is to show how so many years can be wasted on selfish ambition but in the end our lives can find purpose.

There should be some comprehensive structural tension in the video, to build a vision of fear vs. desire. The human essence of seeking what we desire should be displayed clearly and ferociously. Certain levels of violence and eroticism should intersect in the imagery, keep in mind that this is a music video, there will be no nudity or graphic violence but the video will have a raw look to it.

The male and the female roles should be adequately emphasized in their singular capacity and accentuated in their own light, then combined, thrown into one another, a random collision of chaos and savage beauty.

There should be a classic display of boy meets girl and happy ending. But Ultimately this video should be a spectecal for the eye, a five minute thirty second Hollywood feature about lust, desire, and salvation. 

Ultimately this video will be up to the actors, actresses and camera persons to deliver something authentic and visually captivating, telling a story about passion and unbridled rugged humanity at its best and worse, revealing the unexpected and unpredictable element in the human experience.

All interested parties should listen to the song and read the lyrics, and make it their personal mission to bring the song to life.

TUCSON, ARIZONA — For one night only, December 11, 2013, Encore! will be paired with our freshman acting students' performance piece, the Freshman Debut.

Each fall, a new edition of Debut is developed specifically to showcase the training and talents of the incoming freshman class of majors in our BFA Acting program, and Encore! presents a lively revue from the best of Broadway and musical theatre performed by our freshman Musical Theatre majors.

Encore! 2013-14 presents, Celebration! A Night of Broadway Musicals, which will take you on a journey through many classic show tunes, including: Cabaret, Miss Saigon, Phantom of the Opera, Les Mistrables, The Music Man, South Pacific, Footloose, Roberta, My Favorite Year, Parade, Gypsy, Funny Girl, The Secret Garden, Jekyll and Hyde, Oliver, and The Drowsy Chaperone.

"You are seeing the stars of tomorrow...the next generation to carry the musical theatre tradition into the future," said Director and Musical Theatre Professor of Practice, Monte Ralstin.

This year's Freshman Debut presents, Oops: Life Crises and How We Deal with Them, featuring scenes written by the student ensemble themselves, along with a couple scripted pieces by well-known authors like Neil Simon and Tony Kushner.

"The creativity and commitment that came from this group of actors was really inspiring," Assistant Professor David Morden said. "The cast crafted the show themselves, writing pieces based on various themes until we had a treasure trove of scenes, monologues — and even songs. This is a truly talented group of actors and this showcase is just a taste of the great things to come in their time at The UA."

As Reveille tells the story our young George Bailey thinks he might be gay and ready to step out of the closet but he's having doubts. With some heavenly help from above and a drag queen angel named Clara, George joins Reveille in order to discover just how FABULOUS his life can be! You don't want to miss a moment of George's musical journey full of beautiful holiday music and tongue-in-cheek humor that only Reveille can deliver! A portion of all ticket sales will be donated to PFLAG, Parents and Friends of Lesbian and Gays.

Tickets are $25, and $20 for seniors and students (with a valid I.D.). Performances are Friday, December 6 at 8:00 PM, Saturday, December 7 also at 8:00 PM and a matinee on Sunday, December 8 at 3:00 PM. Good seats are still available for all three performances so don’t miss a moment of the musical magic, hope to see you all there!

EXPERIENCED AFRICAN-AMERICAN ACTORS NEEDED

The Tucson Alliance of Dramatic Artists (TADA) is seeking actors for the World Premiere of it's 2012 Playwright Competition, Emmett, Down In My Heart, by Clare Coss. This is the true story about the murder of Emmett Till in 1955. Needed are three African-American males - young men, 17 to 20, able to play Emmett at 14 and Cuz at 16 years of age, and an African-American man, able to play 60. These are all great actor's roles, so strong experience is needed. The show dates are scheduled for Feb. 20 through March 9, 2014. The play runs on Friday and saturday evenings, and Sunday matinees.

VERY TASTY"SPINNING PLATES"

The restaurant business has always been as much about theater as it is about food. Even the simplest diner makes a minimalist statement about the environment in which its burgers and fries will be consumed – and shapes the attitudes of its customers.

“Spinning Plates” now playing at the Loft Cinema, 3233 E. Speedway Blvd., explores this culinary terrain filled with subjective judgments and imagination that stretches between the grill and the dinner plate.

Who among us hasn’t dreamed at one time or other of running a restaurant, whether it’s a swirling wonderland of gustatory delights or a simple place serving honest fare to hard-working people.

Making his documentary debut is filmmaker Joseph Levy, clearly tuned in to the spirit of dining as a full-on experience. At the top of his food chain is Chicago-based chef Grant Achatz, bright-eyed and elfin, who wants nothing less than having the best restaurant in the world. Literally.

Definitely more down to earth are the family proprietors of 161-year-old Breitbach’s Country Dining in rural Iowa. The kind of meat-and-potatoes place where farm families are happy to wait in line over an hour for the fried chicken and steaks.

The most humble is Tucson’s own La Cocina de Gabby with its endearing immigrant family of  Francisco and Gabby Martinez  who dared to try making their own dream a reality.

Levy has filmed each story chronologically, following each restaurant from its beginnings to current times. But their stories are intercut, so we follow first one than the others at parallel stages of this progression.

Each of the three faces heartbreaking difficulties before the film has ended. Gabby, as we Tucsonans know, had to close her restaurant before the film reached us. Their story touched Levy so deeply he set up a website for contributions to help Gabby get a new restaurant going:http://lacocinadegabby.weebly.com/

What makes “Spinning Plates” so special is the way each restaurant is detailed in terms of its passion to present a meaningful experience to its followers (they are far more than mere customers).

Achatz is as driven as he is arrogant. The Breitbach family (with their 161 years of history and the tombstones to show for it in the local cemetery) embrace their responsibility to their community.

Gabby and her husband are no less passionate than the others. They invest all their money, sell their home and simply refuse to give up.
