Unscrewed Theater Proudly Announces

MAN Vs. Movie

by PAUL VAILLANCOURT!

A one-man show with a cast of thousands!

Man vs Movie, the world's ONLY one-man improvised movie, will be performed Saturday, June 4, 2016 at The Unscrewed Theater

Veteran improviser Paul Vaillancourt takes a single suggestion of a line of poetry or a lyric from a song and, using that as his jumping off point, improvises an ENTIRE feature film right before your very eyes including everything you would see in a big budget Hollywood movie – camera angles, plot, characters, special effects and more!

Paul Vaillancourt is the co-founder with Charna Halpern of the iO West and has been teaching and performing improv for close to 30 years. To name a few of the venerable comedy venues where he has delighted audiences,

Paul has appeared at HBO's Comedy Arts Festival in Aspen, Chicago's iO where he studied with the immortal Del Close, New York's UCB Theater, and Austin's Out of Bounds Festival.

Chris Seidman, Executive Director of Unscrewed Theater, reported "Unscrewed Theater is fortunate to host Mr. Paul Vaillancourt as our artist in residence for the weekend of June 3th through June 5th. Paul will provide expert level workshops throughout the weekend and, of course, perform his acclaimed show, Man vs. Movie on Saturday June 4th at 9:30 PM"!

Unscrewed Theater is located at 3244 E. Speedway Blvd. Tucson, AZ 85716 (across from The Loft Cinema, next to Fronomo's). Parking and entrance are located in the rear of the building. Turn in to the Walgreen's parking lot and go to the left around the building.

Online ticket sales end at 5:45 pm on the day of the show at http://bit.ly/279iDEl.

As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, Unscrewed Theater is community based and offers live performances, classes and produces all forms of live improvisational theater in Tucson, AZ.  Not Burnt Out Just Unscrewed has been consistently making Tucson laugh for over 14 years.

Please support arts in our AZ schools TODAY!

From: Arizona Citizens for the Arts
Sent: Thursday, June 2, 2016 11:02 AM
Subject: Please support arts in our AZ schools TODAY!

Your dollars fuel our fight for arts in EVERY Arizona school!

Your dollars fuel our fight for arts in EVERY Arizona school!

We believe every one of our young people benefits from a standards-based arts education. The value of arts in a well-rounded education is undeniable – improved thinking skills, early language development, better communications and language skills, and better math learning.

Currently in Arizona:

  • 40% of schools lack qualified arts and music teachers
  • 110,000 students have NO arts in their schools
  • 79% of schools spend less than $1 per student on art supplies, field trips or special classrooms.
  • Only 2.8%of schools offer instruction in the four main arts disciplines, music, visual art, dance and theatre.

Together, we can change that.

We must raise $20,000 by June 30 to support our ambitious program to promote Arizona arts and culture through the rest of 2016. Key on our agenda is advocacy for arts education.

We will survey school board candidates in nine key districts across the state about arts education issues, and distribute results to district voters. We'll distribute important information about arts education to all school board candidates in the state, and to our advocates who MUST turn out at the polls to make their voices heard and their votes count.

Our goal: More arts in our schools and a better understanding of how arts education contributes to overall school performance.

Will we be able to do the job we know needs to be done?  Your dollars will make the difference.

Please help us today.

Jessica's improv philosophy is that really good comedy should be smart, grounded, sometimes goofy but ALWAYS fun!  Trying to engrain improv strategy/skills as a natural part of your scene work will allow you to get out of your head and truly experience what's happening on stage. Jessica's teaching and coaching style emphasizes finding confidence on stage which allows you to truly follow the fun in a scene.

June Meeting: Production And Its Participants

Tuesday, June 7th at 7pm
Connect Coworking, Downtown
33 S Fifth Avenue, Tucson, AZ 85701

Join us Tuesday, June 7th for IFA's next meeting "Production And Its Participants." This meeting will be a panel discussion where we'll meet local filmmakers who have been through the film production process and have discovered that Murphy's law exists and most likely will not be kind to you on your first day of filming. They will tell you how to avoid the many mistakes and problems that often occur, and they will share how to successfully manage the production process until the day you can happily say, "It's a wrap!"

Moderated by Philip Sedgwick, our panelists will be Steve Anderson, Randal Feemster, Alan Williams, Rogelio Camarillo, Joshua Zienstarsky, Ralph Horn, and Martie Ashworth. View their bios and IFA news in the June newsletter:

IFA June Newsletter

Remember, IFA meetings are free and open to the public, but we also strongly encourage you to take the next step and become a member. For only $25.00 a year, you can be part of this amazing group of people who strive to help the independent filmmakers of Southern Arizona. Academic memberships are also available for free for actively enrolled students.

You know that being on time is one of the keys to success, so we'll see you there at 7:00pm.
