(Re)Telling Tucson's Story
Friday nighat at 7:30pm

 

CreativeMornings Tucson is an all volunteer-run free breakfast lecture series aimed at bringing together creative individuals with the belief that in doing so we can bring positive connection and change to our city and community. We are part of a larger CreativeMornings community with groups hosting monthly events in cities all over the world. Each month the global organization sets a topic and each participating city curates a speaker on that topic. The events are always free and feature free coffee + pastries, opportunities to connect with creatives, and a featured talk from a local creative. Everyone is creative. Everyone is welcome.

Division/Department: Old Tucson Entertainment (OTE)/Yuletide

Job Title: Cast Member-Yuletide

Reports To: Creative Director, OTE Management, and Rail Events Productions (REP) Management

Type of position: Non-Exempt, Hourly

Employee Classification: Seasonal

Compensation: $15.00 - $19.00 per hour

 

 

Job Summary: Cast Members will be portraying lead characters and various townspeople and ensemble character positions for our Yuletide season. Cast members will be working under a specific script yet will be required at times to improvise during the event within their character. Cast Members will also be working in an environment where direct interaction with audience members of all ages will be essential to achieve the desired feel of the show. Some singing and choreography will be required of certain Cast Members. Some Cast Members will be involved in fight choreography and limited stunts. Some Cast Members will be asked to swing multiple roles or understudy lead roles.

 

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Memorization and performance of scripted scenes while playing various characters.
• Learn staging, music, choreography, and fight choreography.
• Receive new dialogue and memorize in a timely manner.
• Learn and perform songs.
• Become familiar with company guidelines and rules.
• Maintain a safe, welcoming, positive, and inclusive working environment and advises management with related concerns.
• Other duties as assigned.

Education, Skill and Work Experience Requirements:

• Ability to work up to long days with prolonged standing
• Prior acting and/or improvisation experience
• Prior work in theme park events and non-traditional performance environments
• Ability to be flexible and adaptive to an everchanging environment. 
• Ability and willingness to work evenings, weekends, and late hours as production schedule may dictate
• Commitment to working under shared leadership and in cross-functional teams

Work Environment:

• Standing, walking, and running in locations with unbalanced footing.
• Varying temperatures and weather conditions; both indoor and outdoor. 
• Fast paced and exciting environment.

8th Annual Four Day Int'l Wild Bunch Film Festival In Tucson Oct 26-29

Filmmakers, writers and more converge on Tucson to celebrate the 8th Annual Film Festival and the western lifestyle.

The 8th Annual Int'l Wild Bunch Film Festival rides into Tucson with its largest attendance to date. It will be held once again at the Galaxy Theatres located at 100 S. Houghton Rd. 

 

 

This year the festival is proud to present the 2nd annual Robert Shelton Award. It will be presented by a Shelton family member to a person or business that has played or is playing a key role in helping bring filmmaking to Southern Arizona. Robert Shelton was the founder of Old Tucson Studios and a longtime advocate for the Southern Arizona movie industry. The Charlie LeSueur and Jerry Vance awards will also be presented along with many others, including a few surprises! Festival hours are Thurs 2 to 9pm, Fri 3 to 10pm, Sat 10am to 10pm & Sun 10am to 4:30pm.

 

"Some of the films we're screening were filmed in southern Arizona at western movie locations such as Old Tucson, Mescal movie set, Harkers Museum & Movie Set and Gammons Gulch. And some of the filmmakers are flying in from Spain, Canada, Germany, and the UK. And several films were made at Buggy Barn It's a very exciting time for everyone", Film Festival director Rock Whitehead says.

 

The film schedule has over 60 films that will screen over the four day event, with some films including well-known actors and entertainers.

 

On Saturday from 12pm to 1pm there is a Special Writer's Q&A for screenwriters, manuscripts, TV pilots, poetry, etc., hosted by Aurora LaRay. She will also be entertaining us at the festivals Kick-Off Party on Thursday Oct 26th at RJ's Frozen Cactus at 5769 E Speedway Blvd starting at 9pm.  

 

The festival all culminates Sunday afternoon with the festival's big award show that will be in the larger DFX Theatre from 5:30 to 7pm. Hosted by Bobbi Jeen, Rowdy and Jim Olson from Western Trading Post.

 

The festival's AFTER-PARTY hosted by Saguaro Corners at 3750 S Old Spanish Trail from 7:30pm to 10pm. Great Food & Drinks, and entertainment by the 'Midnight Ryders'.

Job Summary:

 

The Show Technician will work with the lighting and sound designer, production team and other on-site management during pre-production and load in to install all lighting and sound systems in accordance with the system designs. This role will be responsible for the operation of the lighting and sound systems during the entire run of the event. The ideal candidate will also be required to help maintain all of the lighting and sound systems and serve as a troubleshooter in the event of system problems. This position works under the supervision of the Tech Director. Because of the nature of the live event, it may be required for the Show Technician to assist in any event related items as required. The Stage Manager and Tech Director should be notified of any technical or artistic needs that may arise to keep the integrity of the lighting and sound designs.

The successful candidate will be working with Old Tucson Entertainment LLC for our NIGHTFALL event. Make-up artists will work with the Hair & Make-up designer and the rest of the production team. They will be responsible for teaching and applying make-up for all performers of Nightfall (Scare actors, stunt performers, lead actors). The makeup artist works closely with the make-up designer and costume designer to apply a look for each performer that will visually support their character and be as time period appropriate as possible.
