Agatha Christie once again takes her audience on an exotic
adventure full of suspense, and murder.  This time the setting is the romantic and mysterious Egypt.  We find
newlyweds, Simon Mostyn (Chris Mosley) and Kay Ridgeway (Lauren DeVille), enjoying their honeymoon on a paddle steamer down the Nile. With them is Cannon Pennefeather (Michael Woodson), Jacqueline (Megan Patno), an ill-tempered elderly woman and her niece, and host of other characters, - all of whom become entangled in a conspiracy, an attempted
murder, and, of course, a successful murder. It will be up to Canon Pennefeather to unravel, detangle and solve the ill-fate of one the passengers.  All are suspect because of
either their pasts, their presents, and of course their “chance” meeting on the Nile.

 

No one does exotic murder like Dame Christie!

 

The show opens on Saturday,  November 18, 2006 and
runs through Sunday  December 23, 2006.

 

Show times are Thursday, Friday, and Saturday at 7:30, Sunday matinee at 3:00.  Enjoy a Post Show Opening

Coyote Ramblers Performing Artists at Artfare / The Muse, in downtown Tucson, proudly invite the Tucson community to these Arizona Premieres in AMERICAN ALBUM - VOLUME ONE (Women on the Verge), by Ken Tesoriere.

This main-stage production marks the return of this award-winning theater group to Tucson after nine years producing shows in Los Angeles and touring the country and Europe.  These main-stage performances begin on Friday, November 3, 2006 at 7:30pm, and run until Sunday, November 19, 2006.

AMERICAN ALBUM - VOLUME ONE presents three innovative, award-winning plays directed by the author, who is also an award-winning director.  In HOT-WIRED HIGHWAYS, Melissa Kiger is Christina, a young woman who travels the highways as she tries on various lives, and whatever that takes.  In TIME, Halsey Taylor as Cleo, ponders how and why her life is how it is through a noted local fine arts dancer, Jennifer Johhson, who reveals the character’s varied emotions and thoughts, with choreography by noted local artist, Fabian  Padilla.  In LENA’S SECRET GARDEN, Marissa Garcia and Clay Utley attempt to work through a tragedy that has taken place and is dividing their marriage.

All three of these plays have won numerous awards for their unique story structures that effectively tells these stories at their deepest levels.

Shows run downtown at 55 N. 6th Avenue (across from the Ronstadt Bus Station in the refurbished Sears Executive Building, third floor), on Friday and Saturday evenings, 7:30 pm, and Sundays at 2 pm.

The play explores the undisclosed  and unsettling details of a loving relationship between Linda and Michael Waterman, a happily married couple who are both successful writers.  When Linda faces a life-threatening illness, they decide to share their diaries with one another—and the boundaries between past and present, fact and fiction, trust and betrayal begin to break down. This intelligent and perceptive play peers into the private world of a husband and wife facing truths that were better left unsaid.

The 48 HOUR SHOOTOUT FILMMAKING CHALLENGE
is coming to Tucson!

The 48 Hour Shootout Filmmaking Challenge is a
Forty-Eight Hour Film Competition modeled after a similar event that
originated in Washington, D.C. Over 30,000 people have participated in
similar festivals nationwide. This will be the first 48hr challenge in
Tucson, taking place at The Loft Cinema.

Teams of filmmakers will have 48 hours to write, pre-produce, cast,
shoot, edit, an original short film four to seven minutes long. Two weeks
later films will be screened at The Loft Cinema. Awards-determined by a
panel of local celebrities and film critics-will be given for best picture,
actor, actress, etc, and announced after the showing.
Participating teams will receive (4) free tickets to the Festival
Screening of their film at The Loft Cinema on Friday, October 27th, (4) Four
free Tucson 48hr Film Shootout t-shirts commemorating their participation.
The Entry fee is $50 dollars, payable at The Loft Cinema or Online at the
Film Shootout website. Only 25 spots are available for filmmaking teams.

Filmmaker teams will meet at The Loft and then be given their genre,
a character's name, a line of dialogue, and a prop at 6:00 p.m. on October
13th. They will have 48 hours from that time to create their film and return
it to The Loft Cinema. It will then be screened by the judges and shown two
weeks later at 7:00 p.m. on October 27th at The Loft Cinema, 3233 E.
Speedway.

The judges for the contest will be: James DiGiovanna, The Tucson
Weekly - Randy Garsee, KOLD News - Chuck Graham, The Tucson Citizen -
Patrick Roddy, Producer-in-Residence, UA Media Arts Dept. - Sherm and Tic
Tac, "The Frank Show," KFMA - Phil Villarreal, The Arizona Daily Star.

The idea for this 48hr Film Festival was originated by Co-Festival
Director, Micah Roland. He gathered support from the film community in
Tucson and formed a partnership with a local filmmaker and Co-Festival
Director, Ray Thomas. They proposed the festival idea to The Loft Cinema
Program and Operations directors, Jeff Yanc, and J.J Giddings. The Loft
Cinema agreed to have the festival at their local and provide their support.
Tucson's first 48hr filmmaking challenge was born.
The 48hr Film Shootout hopes through the competition and festival to
bring filmmakers together and get them to make more films. With a tight
deadline, the focus is placed on teamwork and creativity, two skills very
important to any aspiring filmmaker.

ETCETERA, Live Theatre Workshop's Late Night Series, will be holding OPEN
AUDITIONS for it's upcoming production of "The Tragedy of HAMLET, Prince of
Denmark" to be directed by Adam-Adolfo.

Auditions will be held at Live Theatre Workshop on Sunday, October 22nd,
2006 at 6:00 PM. Auditions will be on a first-come first-served basis. A
Headshot and Resume are not required but highly recommended by those
planning to try out. Come with a prepared Shakespearean Monologue, no
sonnets. Callbacks will be held the following evening - Monday, October
23rd, 2006 at 10:00 PM and are invite-only based on auditions. Actors
invited to Callbacks should be prepared to participate in some short Voice
and Movement excercises as well as give cold readings from the script. This
production begins rehearsal in mid-November and will rehearse for seven
weeks, Mondays through Thursdays, from 10:00 PM to 12:30 AM. This production
of Hamlet will open in the second week of January and run through the first
week of February, playing Friday and Saturday Nights at 10:30 PM.

“The Goodbye Girl” is based on Neil Simon's well-known film (starring Marsha Mason & Richard Dreyfuss and on Broadway with Bernadette Peters & Martin Short) about an unlikely romance between Paula, a bitter, single mother who has been jilted one too many times, and Eliot, the opinionated actor who shows up on her doorstep with a lease to sublet her apartment. It features the same unique humor that has made Neil Simon the most popular playwright in Broadway history. The show runs the middle 2 weekends in November The show is at zuzi's
theatre - and the space now has some great new equipment and dimmers. the
work times are pretty late - we have to work around their schedule. simple

The show has five singer/actors and a pianist. We will be using their fine

Description:

Dynamic university arts presenting organization seeks a motivated, experienced Technical Director to coordinate the technical elements of multidisciplinary theatrical events which include lighting, sound, scenery and equipment requirements, with an emphasis on personnel and facility management.

Duties:

• Trains, supervises and evaluates the activities of the stage crew.
• Determines setup and use of theatrical equipment prior to a performance and supervises use during performances.
• Coordinates and supervises stage crew during the load-in, performance and load-out portions of productions.
• Confers with the production company on the technical rider portion of the contract to determine lighting, sound and stage requirements, equipment needed and feasibility of stage plan with equipment available.

· Ensures that the terms of the agreement are met by scheduling qualified help to perform the required tasks; determines workforce and schedules workers for maintenance, pre-hangs and performances.

• Serves as house technical representative during performances and facilitates communications to ensure interface between production crew, stage-crew and artists are seamless.
• Maintains an inventory of technical equipment and supplies necessary to perform functions inherent with each event.
• Inspects lighting, sound systems, cables, fly system, boards and power sources on a regular basis and schedules necessary maintenance or repairs to ensure safety of both performers and employees.

Knowledge, skills and abilities:

· Ability to lead a stage crew

· Skill in performance facility management

· Excellent working knowledge of theatrical audio principles, practices and equipment.

· Knowledge of theatrical lighting principles, practice and equipment.

· Knowledge of safe rigging practices.

· Knowledge of stage management principles and practices.

· Skill in stage production methods and techniques.

· Ability to effectively communicate.

Bisbee's Obscure Productions 3rd Annual Comedy Show

Bisbee's Obscure Productions will open its third annual comedy show, "It's a
Joke Already!" on Friday, October 27. The show promises to rock the Bisbee
Woman's Club with giggles, belly laughs and several raucous guffaws.

"It's a Joke" will play Friday and Saturday, October 27 and 28, at 7:30 pm.
There will also be a matinee at 3:00 pm on Sunday October 29.
All shows will be at the Bisbee Woman's Club, 7 Ledge Avenue on Quality Hill
in Old Bisbee.

Featured performers will include locally famous Peter Levine, performing
classic Bisbee satire. Floyd Lillard performs always-topical standup and the
no longer obscure Rae Jones will emcee.
There will also be new Bisbee faces with sharp, new material and extremely
funny out-of-town guests. The show features mature themes & language. All
the jokes and satire will be interpreted into American Sign Language.

All tickets are $6 in advance at Atalanta's Music & Books, Plaza Liquor,
Bisbee Office Supply and Bisbee Visitors' Center. They will be
$8 on the day of the show -- if they are still available. Patrons are
encouraged to purchase their tickets in advance, since last year's show sold
out.
