Waypoint Theatre Company- southern Arizona’s only faith based live theatre organization, is serving up generous portions of joyful Christmas Spirit and laughter with their family-friendly production of Christmas Classics…& Other Cool Yule! – a comic collection of favorite Christmas sketches by various artists.

December 9 - 13, 2009 Atria Bell Court Gardens’ Academy Hall Theater

6653 E. Carondelet Drive (northeast of St. Joseph’s Medical Center)

 

An assortment of desserts and beverages will be served in premium table seating along with the requested singing serenades 30 minutes prior to the show. Various solos and ensembles including Frosty dressed as Elvis, "James Brown" belting out Rudolph and a return to the disco 70s with "Mrs. Santa" singing Santa Baby with the Dynamo backups. There are also pre-show raffles including a Vacation Get Away for two and several quality items for holiday gift giving.

 

Dessert includes a variety of decorated cookies and fudge, mixed nuts, coffee and tea. The show features five Christmas comedy sketches, with audience sing-along of favorite carols and traditions sharing.

 

Christmas Classics… & Other Cool Yule! runs for one week only, Wednesday, December 9 through Sunday, December 13 with a  7pm evening performance December 13th benefiting the Gospel Rescue Mission’s new Women and Children’s Center. Mr. Scott Munro, Director of Development and Expansion for the Gospel Rescue Mission, will be present to lead a short discussion after the show about the organization.  $10 from each adult ticket will go directly to purchasing a bunk-bed set for the new Women and Children’s Center.

 

Performances Wed, Thurs, Fri (Dec 9 - 11) at 7:00 p.m. (7:30 play only), with two shows Saturday and Sunday at 1:30 p.m. (2:00 play only) and 7:00 p.m. (7:30 play only). Total running time: 85 minutes, no intermission.

Tucson, Arizona-- Pima Community College Dance, under the new direction of full-time faculty Aurora Gonçalves-Shaner, performs a concert of faculty-choreographed dances in “A Season of New Beginnings.” PCC student dancers will showcase a semester of ballet, jazz, tap, modern, ballroom and Latin-style dances. The program will also highlight the recent collaboration with the University of Arizona by UA dancers performing two numbers in PCC’s “A Season of New Beginnings” and PCC dancers performing in UA’s concert “Last Chance to Dance.”  
 
Program selections include a blues/jazz ballet to “Winter Wonderland,” a Lindy-Hop to “Jump, Jive an’ Wail,” a modern dance to George Winston & the Vitamin String Quartet, and a salsa/cha-cha, samba Latin medley to the music of Sally Harmon, Lalo Davila & Orkestra Cubana (all choreographed by Gonçalves-Shaner). Professional ballroom dancers Gonçalves-Shaner and Robert Grace perform a waltz to music by Robin Speilberg. PCC faculty Claire Hancock choreographs two jazz dances to music by Adele and “Charleston” by the Paul Whiteman Orchestra; while Colleen Beaman choreographs tap medley pieces to “Singing in the Rain/Take Me Out to the Ball Game,” and “Honky Tonk Attitude/Tea for Two/Patriotic Medley.” Kris Shaw’s choreographs the modern II class performance to “Session” by Linkin Park.
 
Gonçalves-Shaner was born in São Paulo, Brazil and grew up in Bahia, where she developed her classical ballet and modern dance techniques. She has travelled the world performing as a professional dancer with a Brazilian contemporary dance company, Ballet Teatro Castro Alves (a.k.a Bahia Ballet). As an American resident, besides obtaining her B.A. in dance from Brigham Young University, and her M.F.A. in dance from The University of Arizona, Gonçalves-Shaner has won national titles in ballroom dance competitions. She is currently a full-time dance faculty teaching at Pima Community College and the University of Arizona.
 
The PCC Dance concert is open to the public. Tickets are available at the Center for the Arts box office, located on West Campus at 2202 West Anklam Road, Tucson, (just west of downtown and I-10 on St. Mary’s Road which turns into Anklam Road). We are shooting a commercial for a technology client and need a gaffer/DP to light an infinity room (white wall, white floor, etc.) Basically, the look found in the Mac/PC ads.

We would need you Thursday November 19th from 3-4pm. We're looking for you to light and leave. However, you are more than welcome to stay for the full shoot- especially if you are able to provide your own lighting gear. The shoot is scheduled to end at 8pm- and we actually mean it will end at 8pm.

We can provide a basic lowell kit- omni, dp, pro and tota.

Pay is $100 for the initial light set-up. More can be negotiated if you are able to stay longer and provide your own gear.

You will receive a copy of the final within several weeks.

My production is going to take place throughout Arizona. begining filming in latter part of January 2010.An Independent film production under experienced upcoming Californian director, producer. My budget (investors)allow me to make this a cadillac of a film -specifically aimed towards a variety of film festivals & Sundance Network, in the coming year 2010.
Looking for male actors 30-40 yrs pleasant statute, no need to be muscular just clean and appealing. Open to all ethnics. Facial hair accepted. (1) lead actor and various supporting roles.
Second group of males -ages 55-70 yrs- not looking for the rocking chair grandpa, but an semi-active 55-70yr old. There will be a lead actor for this age group also.
Female lead will be a 30-40 yrs pleasant body features, accepting all ethnics. Be advised there will be scenes where love-making will take place, no nudity.
Supporting female actors will be 25-35 average looking-everyday working person, office -secretary type.

This is a drama that takes place in current times, scenes take place in Tucson. Arizona & Phx. Az.
The orgainization has a hit out for this high roller from Chicago- turning States evidence-relocates to Arizona; but also to find out his own family turns against him. Now he needs to turn to his contacts of various high profile ranchers in Az. who have the Federal and State governments in the palm of their hands-seeking adjudication, and redemption.

Tucson, Arizona – Pima Community College performing arts department presents the Chorale & College Singers Holiday Concert under the direction of Benjamin Sorenson. The concert features the Chorale, a large mixed-voice choir and the College Singers, a smaller mixed-voice choir. Program selections include “Christmas Cantata” by Daniel Pinkham, “Lullay my Liking” by Gustav Holst, “The Little Drummer Boy” by Harry Simeone, and “O Come, Little Children” by Christopher von Schmid. They will also sing “The Twelve Days After Christmas” by Frederick Silver, “Verbum caro factum est” by Hans Leo Hassler, “S’vivon - The Dreydl Song” and “Ding Dong! Merrily on High!”
 
 Sorenson has been directing the Chorale & College Singers since 1978. He performs regularly with the Arizona Opera Company and has prepared choruses professionally for the Tucson Symphony Orchestra and the Arizona Opera Company.

The Pillowman is a 2003 play by Irish playwright Martin McDonagh. An especially dark black comedy, it tells the tale of Katurian, a fiction writer living in a police state who is interrogated about the gruesome content of his short stories, and their similarities to a number of bizarre child murders occurring in his town. The play received the 2004 Olivier Award for Best New Play, the 2004-5 New York Drama Critics' Circle Award for Best New Foreign Play, and two Tony Awards for production. It was nominated for the 2004 Evening Standard Award for Best New Play.

 

E&A hired Eugenia Woods to come from Portland, OR to direct the piece. She has both directed and produced theatre for many years, and has earned praise for her work in Tucson, Phoenix, Portland, and New York City.

The December IFASA meeting will be Monday, 7 December, at 6:00 PM at Access Tucson, 124 E. Broadway.  Our speaker will be career professional 1st Assistant Director Craig Huston.  Craig has been 1st AD on over 25 major films including •First Blood, •The Beautician and the Beast, and •Uncommon Valor, as well as on over 40 television series and movies including •Charmed, •Love Boat: The Next Wave, and •Under Siege.  He was also 2nd ADon 14 major films including •Heaven Can Wait, •The Eiger Sanction, and Lipstick.  It will be a very interesting and informative meeting.  Everyone is welcome.

 

Also, the December meeting is the time for our annual IFASA board elections.  Please, everyone attend to either run for a position or vote for your new board members.  Only those who have paid your $10 annual dues can vote or run.  To run, you must also have attended three IFASA events in the last six months, which may include the December meeting and any workshops, screenings, and mixers.

Audition Technique I

Script Breakdown

This is the foundation course for learning the important building blocks to great performance.  You’ll learn how to break down the script, how to analyze the character, how to play him/her, and most importantly how to mark the script in order to give a really great audition.  Throughout the course, you’ll have two or three auditions, and you’ll be given lots of information and insightful advice about how to handle the important few minutes before each audition.  This course is not just about auditioning - it’s also a great acting class.

6 consecutive Monday nights
6:30pm-8:30pm

$45 per week

Don't worry if you have to miss one or even two classes during the series of six - we can easily book a make-up session outside of the evening class - The make-up would be a private session scheduled Monday through Saturday at 11:30, 12:00, 12:30, 1:00, or 1:30 for $50.

Or you can take the entire course in private sessions at $50 per 1-hour session or $75 per 1½-hour session.
