It has been a fascinating summer, exploring the world of improvisation and stretching our creative muscles as we create one-act plays on the fly.  Our previous forays into long-form improvisation have been terrific fun-often amusing, sometimes poignant and always intriguing.  This Saturday is your last chance (for a little while, anyway) to be a part of the genesis of yet another completely spontaneous story.  As always, we don't know what it will be about, where it will go or how it will resolve.  We do know, however, that we'll have a great time and hope you will help us make it all happen!

The El Rio Theatre Project will present its 4th Shakespeare in the Park production of Much Ado About Nothing at the Himmel Park Outdoor Amphitheatre, 1000 N. Tucson Blvd. Performances are scheduled for Sept.
16-19, 23-26 & Oct. 1-3. Curtain time is 7 p.m. for all performances, and the event is free to the public, with a suggested donation of $5.

Bring a blanket, a picnic basket and the whole family, and enjoy an evening of Theatre in the park.

A sharp, smart comedy about men and women and what it takes to make love happen. While Beatrice and Benedick hide their infatuation beneath witty barbs, Hero and Claudio race to the altar. Enter the malcontent Don John, bent on ruining the wedding. He nearly succeeds, but not before Beatrice and Benedick finally tell each other how they really feel. "Much Ado About Nothing" shows us different ways how people are attracted to one another, and how their realization and definitions of "love" relate to their perceptions of this beauty.

One must be short, large-busted, yet small in frame with preferably short hair (gray, or be willing to dye), another must be trim, tall, attractive, preferably a red-head (or willing to dye hair) and looks similar to Flo on the old TV series 'Mel's Diner'. The last female needs to be moderate height, grandmotherly appearance, average build. Mixed Nuts is an outrageous and warm hearted comedy that follows the adventures of Michael Caldwell, a shy, aspiring writer who flees his predictable life in the Midwest and moves to New York City in a quest to become a prominent writer.   A series of hilarious encounters unfolds as he befriends several unconventional residents of the dilapidated apartment house that he moves into. Among them are a commercial actor who specializes in portraying inanimate objects, a Russian ballerina on the lam from the KGB and a wisecracking, beautiful actress. This uproarious and uplifting play by Nancy Manera and Simon J. Donoghue will be directed by Susan Arnold and is suitable for all ages.

 

The show opens at St Francis Theater Friday November 5^th and runs through Sunday November 21^st.  St. Francis Theater Ensemble is a long-established, community-based theater program dedicated to providing meaningful, inclusive, inspiring and affordable theater experiences in an intimate setting.

Edna – The landlady

Michael Caldwell- An aspiring writer (Male lead)

Marshall Ryan- Another tenant, an actor that is most often dressed as a vegetable

WHO SHOULD AUDITION?   This show utilizes 3 male and 5 female adult actors with parts for young adults, middle age or mature actors.   No singing involved.

I need a male dancer age roughly 11 to 18 (will consider others who look in this age range) who is able to dance to Michael Jackson's "THRILLER." This is a comedy/horror movie that will premiere in a Tucson movie theater in April 2011. Principal photography is finished, but I've decided to add a comical dance sequence. I would like to film this no later than mid-September. I will accept inquiries through the end of August or until I find the right individual. 

A slender actor/dancer preferred. You must be able to do this dance reasonably well. Shooting location to be determined, but somewhere in the Tucson area. Actor to be killed off either during the dance sequence or right after. 

Actor to be compensated with 2 copies of the movie and $40 for your time. Entire schooting should take no more than an hour or so. I must be sent at least a head shot (without a hat) and if possible a full-length body shot to determine look. This should be a lot of fun for the right actor/dancer!

HELP - FESTIVAL REPERTORY THEATRE needs an actor. Our leading man, (Barney Cashman in LAST OF THE RED HOT LOVERS. by Neil Simon) has a family emergency that has caused him to withdraw from the play.

 

LAST OF THE RED HOT LOVERS is a wonderful comedy about a middle aged man married to his high school sweetheart. He longs for an extramarital affair before he reads his name in the obituary columns. His trials and tribulations as he endeavors this goal has audiences in great gusts of laughter.

 

This part is an actor's dream. He is on the stage for the entire show and has plenty of opportunities to explore  and develop an unforgettable character. Barney will move audiences as he makes them laugh.

 

Rehearsal are scheduled for three times a week. Rehearsal time is flexible. A small stipend will be paid.

 

We are scheduled to open in the Cabaret Theatre of the Temple of Music and Art on Oct. 15th and will run for three weekends, closing on Oct. 31st.

Musical pantomime troupe of four solid members is still looking for one more serious artist. 

We are a working group, currently doing shows in Tucson (about once a month)and always trying to get our name out there to hopefully branch out 
and get a real paid gig somewhere. For now it's learning the material, adding the numerous "layers" and polishing, polishing, polishing! 

There is some small pay for each member of each show, but the real reimbursement (for now) is learning the not-so-easy and rich craft of pantomime and being part of 
something quite different, something we feel has a lot of potential.

Please reply only if you are serious about working in a self-contained show and you have the commitment to DO theatre not just THINK of doing theatre.
