Tickets are now available for Diane Van Deurzen & Lisa Otey's "A Holiday to Remember" concert for the weekend of Dec. 17-19. We originally scheduled our dinner show at O'Shaughnessy's for Dec. 4. We had to change the date to accommodate MIX-FM's "Tucson Christmas Carol" at the Fox Theatre for their annual Diaper Drive. Diane and I provide the music and underscoring for this event. O'Shaughnessy's generously offered to move our date to Sun., Dec. 18. Seating will begin at 6pm. Our concert will start at 7pm. The cost for that show is $25 and includes your choice of Broiled NY Strip or Chicken Breast Marinara w/fresh linguini. Reservations are required for this event, 296.7464. O'Shaughnessy's is located at 2200 N. Camino Principal, near Tanque Verde/Grant, behind the Brake Masters.

 

Our "Holiday to Remember" concert series will also be presented Saturday, Dec. 17 at St. Francis in the Foothills, 4625 E. River Rd., and Monday, Dec. 19 at Z Mansion, 288 N. Church. If you can't wait til December, Diane and I have a show this Saturday, Nov. 19 at 8pm at La Cocina restaurant in Old Town Artisans, 201 N. Court Avenue. Script Breakdown

This is the foundation course for learning the important building blocks to great performance.  You’ll learn how to break down the script, how to analyze the character, how to play him/her, and most importantly how to mark the script in order to give a really great audition.  Throughout the course, you’ll have two or three auditions, and you’ll be given lots of information and insightful advice about how to handle the important few minutes before each audition.  This course is not just about auditioning - it’s also a great acting class.

What a wonderful class to get you to think fast, think on your feet, loosen up your body, and how you move.  In this class, you're also taught dialects.  You don't have to be a "funny person" to do really well in this class, to have a fantastic time, and to learn a great deal.  Comedy improv isn't half as hard as it looks when you learn it from a former Saturday Night Live cast member.  Anna gives you the keys: formats, dialects, and structure.  Come play, have a ball, and enjoy discovering how funny you can be.  Also, for acting students, studying comedy improv loosens up the body, helps you think fast on your feet, introduces dialects, and sharpens your timing.

We have just such a need now. We are casting TV for 4 spots for La Frontera Arizona and for 2-4 spots for TV and radio for Vantage West Credit Union.

Need: the principle actor/actress has to be able to communicate sadness, loneliness, depression, feeling abandoned, without words (these are all voiceover spots) – then they must be able to brighten, to express hope when the second person enters the scene. Must be subtle but clear.  2^nd person in every spot need not be as accomplished an actor as the first person – we may not even see the face of the second person…these spots will be done over the next 2-3 months.

 

Spot #1: need young man, any ethnicity…plays a “veteran” age 27-32 approx. cannot be much younger, can be slightly older –  He is a recent veteran of Iraq.

Also – need second young man, also a veteran, to enter the scene and bring hope

 

Spot # 2 – need teenager, female, who looks 15-18,….

Also – 2^nd female teenager, who enters the scene to make contact with first girl

 

Spot #3 – need Senior citizen,  female (70+)  (could possibly be a male but female is preferable)  - WE HAVE CASTY A MALE FOR THIS… Also – 2^nd person is the granddaughter, or grandson…in her/his 20s

In each spot, there is only one speaking role.. They need to be able to express their mortgage needs to a loan officer (Loan officer is also speaking.)

 

Scene # 1 -  young single mom (25-30)

Scene # 2 -  an older couple (50-55) who will retire in 10-15 years

Scene # 3 -  a young couple (28-35)

Scene #4 -  a  slightly older couple (40-45)  

 

Also need two loans officers…one male, one female…late 30s to early 50s

 

These people can be any ethnicity. fine.

AND – we will do RADIO too, so that these people must be able to deliver a short line or two.

We will do all spots, all recordings, all photographs at one location (bank branch) on a Sunday, in one day, Dec. 11^th.

TUCSON, ARIZONA – For one night only, Encore! will be paired with our freshman acting students’ performance piece, the Freshman Debut. Each fall, a new edition of Debut is developed specifically to showcase the training and talents of the incoming freshman class of majors in our BFA Acting program, and Encore! presents a lively revue from the best of Broadway and musical theatre performed by our freshman Musical Theatre majors.

This year’s Freshman Debut presents, So You Think You Can Act? and showcases the talent of the BFA freshman actors through scenes and monologues while exploring the fears and insecurities of making the decision to become a professional actor.

To celebrate Arizona's 100th year of statehood,

Encore! will take audiences on a poignant journey through Arizona history featuring songs from the wild west, the war years, and of course, love & romance...all performed against a nostalgic radio hour backdrop, interwoven with vintage commercials & facts about Arizona & its people. Set in a world where a fictitious radio station faces the looming danger of permanent closure, the hour unfolds with music & song, comedy & drama, inviting audience members to commemorate Arizona's rich history.

BlackBox Productions, LLC will be holding open auditions for their upcoming stage performance : "The Deer and the Antelope Play" November 28^th at 6pm and November 30^th at 6pm.

Casting needs:
4 women
Grandmother- 55 to 65 years of age

The Deer and the Antelope play is a serious comedy about the value of family and friendship, the importance of self-forgiveness, and the special healing joy that comes to those who know how to "drink life by the dregs".

This play tells the story of a grandmother, mother, and daughter who face tragedy and assorted misfortunes head-on with the help of a strange woman who comes to live with them.
