Winding Road Theater Ensemble is pleased to announce:

The Time is Out of Joint, a new Shakespeare compilation commissioned by Winding Road Theater especially for our audience!

This project focuses on Shakespearean themes inspired by the Bard's plays written during the plague times he survived. Designed for Winding Road Theatre Ensemble to perform, we will explore the common ground of Shakespeare's plagues to our current pandemic, as the ensemble actors journey through confinement and corruption toward companionship and compassion.

This 75 minute play will be performed by the Winding Road Ensemble, as a product of attending a Shakespeare Workshop directed by Molly Lyons, international actor, director, teacher, and playwright. The Time is Out of Joint features Ensemble Members Denise Blum, Maria Caprile, Tony Caprile, Tyler Gastelum, Lena Quach, and former Ensemble David Alexander Johnston. Ensemble Member Samantha Severson both performs and serves as Production Manager, and provides the production design.

To ensure the safety of our audiences and artists, The Time is Out of Joint was rehearsed via Zoom and will be performed online only.

We're getting ready to open The Weir for live performances this Thursday! (The video will be ready starting next week on Thursday, March 4.)

With only 25% of the seats being used in the theatre, you'll have plenty of room to be socially distanced during the play, if you decide to come in person. We simply ask that you wear a mask and not congregate in the lobby. We'll be taking temperatures at the door, which we'll open 15 minutes before the play begins.

Bio: Jennifer Scott

Jennifer Scott is the founder of Open Eyes Productions, L.L.C. and has been a member of the Screen Actors Guild since 1995. Her independent film work has played in a variety of film festivals, including Sundance. Several of her independent films have also been picked up for distribution and won awards. She has been credited with over 40 films and television appearances portraying various roles making her a chameleon actor. Along with acting she is also writing and producing.

Join the artistic team in dialogue with Chicanx scholar, Ernesto Mireles, to continue our development of Antigone at the Border through a postcolonial framework.

As recipients of the New England Foundation for the Arts National Theatre Project grant, the artistic team behind Antigone at the Border will spend the next 18 months reimagining and reworking Antigone at the Border as an in-person, site specific theatrical event through the collaboration of brown artists with ancestral roots in Southern Arizona, Mexico, and the Tohono O'odham nation.

Taking a deep dive into the systems of repression and colonial roots from which U.S. immigration policy was created, the lead artists developing Antigone at the Border are working with scholars to gain a better understanding of how power and violence are used to control populations who prior to the European conquest freely migrated and traded up and down the Americas for millennia.

Borderlands Theater and our artistic collaborators, Teatro Bravo, invite the public to join us for a behind the scenes look at how we are creating new work responsive to the political and social climate we are in.

About the Speaker

Ernesto Todd Mireles, MSW, PhD is a full faculty member at in the Cultural and Regional Studies undergraduate program and the Social Justice Community Organizing master's program at Prescott College. He is also the coordinator of the Frantz Fanon Community Strategy Center at Prescott College. Dr. Mireles received his Ph.D. from the American Studies department at Michigan State University. His research interests include, Xicano/Xicana literature and history, insurgency, organizing, grassroots party building. Dr. Mireles spent many years working as a professional organizers in several different fields. He has been trained and has trained others in union, electoral and Xicano movement organizing. His 2020 book Insurgent Aztlan: the liberating power of cultural resistance is an International Latino Book Award winner.
