Hi Friends....
Join us for live music, dancing, a DJ set, food and fun for all ages THIS Saturday! Batucaxé is thrilled to invite the Tucson community to celebrate the release of the group’s first CD, “Blessing of the Beat.” The CD title – “Blessing of the Beat” - comes from the meaning behind the name “Batucaxe.”
What: Batucaxé CD Release Party for Debut CD, “Blessing of the Beat”
When: Saturday, May 22, 2010, 7:00pm - 11:00pm
Where: Rhythm Industry Performance Factory, 1013 S. Tyndall (map). Parking available at Napa Auto Parts (the corner of Park Ave./20th St., approx. 1 block east of RIFP)
Cost: $5.00 admission (children 3 and under FREE)
The family-friendly party/jam will not only celebrate the group’s debut CD, it is also a cultural event with Brazilian food and other refreshments, a multi-media presentation featuring Brazilian artists, a DJ set, and singing and dancing with crowd participation. A good time is guaranteed!
With fans ranging from toddlers to seniors who represent just about every race and background, Batucaxé is known for its high-energy Brazilian-influenced tunes, rhythms and dancing that infuse crowds with happiness, liveliness and smiles. Artistic Director Cliff Berrien and a small group of musicians formed Batucaxé in 2001. Today, the organization includes a drum and dance school and all-volunteer community group with 40 members, and a smaller professional performance group that performs at community events and clubs, respectively, year-round.
Admission is $5.00 and CDs are $15. Refreshments and raffle tickets will be sold as well. All proceeds go to support Batucaxé, a non-profit 501(c)3 organization.
