Actors and non-actors alike, the time to speak up through art is now! Plum Blossom Theatre Collaborative invites you to help us make a scene in the street on August 7th, raising awareness for homeless youth in Arizona. By volunteering less than four hours of your time, you can give a voice to a growing population that has no way to speak out. You're sure to have fun doing it too! Read below for more information, or RSVP BY E-MAILING US at pbtcollaborative@gmail.com. You can also check out the event on Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=116120185104073

We hope to see you there!

Extended Info

Who: You, dressed as a homeless youth. Appropriate dress for the event includes hand-me-down, worn, or distressed clothing.

What: A street theatre/flash mob style scene! 40 teens and young adults "dressing down" and posing as homeless youth will line the sidewalks of a major Tucson roadway, permeating the a.m. commute with living tableaus. In these tableaus, players will hold a series of scrawled-on, cardboard signs that tell the story of a struggling youth's path to homelessness. The desired effect is a powerful quarter-mile stretch of road that demands a passerby think twice about what they have seen.

When: AUGUST 7TH from 8 AM until 12 PM
Timetable Breakdown:
"Orientation" (at a bagel shop) from 8 AM - 9 AM
Set-up from 9 AM - 9:30 AM
Scene in action from 9:30 AM - 10:30 AM
Video recap and reception at 11 AM
You're done by noon!

Where: We can't tell you until you RSVP!

Why: Youth homelessness in Pima county showed a tenfold increase from 2008 to 2009. With critical primaries around the corner and mid-term elections in November, it is important to remind our legislators as well as fellow community members that this problem will not vanish by way of negligence! We aim to put a human face on a notoriously impersonal circumstance and to inspire members of the community to action.

To become involved you MUST RSVP by e-mailing pbtcollaborative@gmail.com. We are currently only taking the first 40 volunteers, so BE SURE TO RSVP!
