MixTape is the first offering in a series of new works to be created by

Theatre 3 and produced by ETCETERA. On July 27, the artists of Theatre 3, who specialize in ensemble-created work, entered the rehearsal room with one goal: to create an evening of original short performances for the ETCETERA stage.

MixTape is a compilation of original performances exploring the theme of physical theatre. It’s variety. It’s vaudevillesque. It’s created for you by Theatre 3 featuring Matt Walley and Angela Horchem--graduates of the world-recognized school of physical theatre, Dell’Arte International--and original music by Michael Martinez.

MixTape: an evening of original pieces that will delight, mystify,

and awaken your sense of mirth.

ABOUT THE ARTISTS

Angela Horchem (Artistic Director, Actor-Creator) - In addition to her work with Theatre 3, Angela is a proud member of The Rogue Theatre’s acting ensemble.  Also a mask-maker, her masks were featured on the Rogue’s stage in THE  WINTER’S TALE and in an original work for Commedia dell’Arte Day 2012. She combines a background in team sports with a passion for theatre. Angela earned her M.A. in theatre from the University of Nebraska at Omaha, and went on to study physical theatre at Dell'Arte International and performance in Bali, Indonesia. Other credits include roles at Live Theatre Workshop, the Nebraska Shakespeare Festival, and guest-artist roles with companies across the country, including WONDERHEADS, National Headquarters, The Witching Hour, and Dell'Arte International.

Matt Walley (Associate Artistic Director, Actor-Creator) - In addition to his work with Theatre 3, Matt is a proud member of The Rogue Theatre’s acting ensemble. He teaches acting at The University of Arizona and other venues in the Tucson area. Matt is on the board of the Shakespeare Forum in New York City. He holds an M.F.A. in ensemble-based physical theatre from Dell’Arte International. Matt helped to found ETCETERA in 2004 and was in the inaugural production of DANNY AND THE DEEP BLUE SEA. Since then, he has performed with WONDERHEADS, Mabou Mines, Dell’Arte Company and over 500 stunt shows with the Pinnacle Peak Pistoleros.

Michael Martinez (Executive Director LTW, Musician-Creator) - was last seen with the Mainstage at Live Theatre Workshop serving as Assistant Director for LOST IN YONKERS and performing in the productions of I DO! I DO! and BLACK COFFEE. Before becoming LTW's executive director, Michael was co-coordinator of LTW’s All Together Theatre for children where he has directed, written and composed music for MI NANA Y QUETZALCOATL - LA SERPIENTE EMPLUMADA, LITTLE FRIDA AND HER MAGIC PAINTBRUSH, THE SNOW MAIDEN and OSO FUERTE. Michael has also appeared in the Etcetera productions of MR. MARMALADE (Larry), Richard O’Brien’s THE ROCKY HORROR SHOW (Dr. Scott), KITTY KITTY KITTY (Kitty Kitty Kitty Kitty Kitty) and THE PENIS MONOLOGUES (Ensemble).

Theatre 3 (Production Company) - Founded in 2009, Theatre 3 specializes in ensemble-created work. Theatre 3 was responsible for bringing WONDERHEADS!, an evening of full-face mask, to the Etcetera stage back in 2010. In 2011, it founded Clown, R.N.--a clown therapy program serving local medical facilities--and focused on teaching workshops in physical theatre and ensemble creation, beginning to work with local Tucson theatre makers. In 2012, the ensemble created a Commedia dell’Arte performance, SOY FORMAGGIO, which played at the University of Arizona and The Rogue Theatre. In the 2012-13 season, this ensemble is focused on creating new work for the Etcetera stage. The artists of Theatre 3 bring a passion for character, love for the physical, and spirit of exploration and discovery to all of their work.
