A message from James Reel, our new Executive Director!

I'm excited and a bit intimidated to take over from the dynamic Sanda Schuldmann as the first new executive director Chamber Music PLUS has had in 29 years. It's a new job for me, but by no means a new organization; I've participated in a few shows, given some pre-performance talks, and I've been close friends with Harry and Sanda since before they brought Chamber Music PLUS to Tucson. You may know me as music director/weekday morning host on Classical 90.5, KUAT-FM. I'm still doing that, but the rest of the time I'll be working hard to help Harry and Sanda keep Chamber Music PLUS the vital, innovative, inviting organization they created in 1983.

But we need your help, as well. We're coming back from a one-year hiatus, recharged and ready for exciting new projects. But we have to be sure you, our audience, will be coming back, too, preferably with a few extra friends or family members. Subscriptions are very strong, but we do still have season tickets available in a number of packages, and single tickets will also be available for new audience members to see what it's all about. One of the most important things you can do for Chamber Music PLUS is tell your friends why you love it, and invite them to tag along.

Of course, ticket sales provide only a portion of our revenue. The grants that seemed so plentiful a few years ago have, because of government and corporate cutbacks, become quite scarce; in fact, our children's series called For the Love of Words and Sounds is on hiatus because of the lack of available funding. So it's more important than ever for you, if you have the means, to provide a little extra support-whether it's tacking on a few dollars to the cost of your tickets, offering a substantial gift of $500, advertising in our programs, or sponsoring a production for $5,000. Harry and Sanda are artists and are embarrassed to ask you for money. I'm not, and I'll be happy to tell you how you can support Chamber Music PLUS if you e-mail me or call 400-5439. Or you can offer your support right now  - click here: Chamber Music PLUS

Oh, and in case you're concerned about Sanda-don't be. She's in fine health, and will continue as a motivating force and prominent performer with Chamber Music PLUS. But can you blame her for, after 30 years, wanting to turn the tedious paperwork over to a drudge like me?

Looking forward to hearing from you and greeting you at the Berger,

James Reel
