The Tucson Alliance of Dramatic Artists (TaDa!), will present a staged reading of Eight Fourteen, on June 20th, Thursday, 7PM, Hotel Congress, Copper Hall.  This play is one of four finalists in a new play contest sponsored by TADA!  The play by Hal Corley, Jr., will be directed by Esther Almazan.

Eight Fourteen offers a stylized snapshot of a moment in recent history, the widespread blackout of August 14, 2003. Seemingly a sociopolitical disaster, the blackout proved an ecological wake-up call (and in part inspired the Dark Sky movement). Yet Eight Fourteen is decidedly a human comedy, both character and issue-driven. Though constructed with a linear arc to adhere to the day's timeline, this piece is a tapestry of intersecting personal crises, in counterpoint to the media-fed hysteria. This reading features. Nicholas A. Filip, Brittney L. Vega, Natalia Alvarado, Armen Sarrafian, Mike Saxon, Paul Barby, Cindy Blue, Angelica Rodenbeck, Meagan Jones and Brian Woodcock.

Admission is free.  Donations are welcome. Limited Seating.  Call 520 722-9553 for more information.

Two of Hal Corley's plays, An Ounce of Prevention and Finding Donis Anne,

have been widely performed (Seattle Repertory Theatre, Syracuse Stage, the Walnut Street Theatre, Westbeth, and in Atlanta, LA, Boston and Charlotte).

Brush the Summer By, Adirondack Theatre Festival; Red Mountain Theatre Co., Birmingham, AL; A Man Who Knows How to Hold a Baby, Circus Theatricals, Los Angeles (Best of Fest); ODD, winner, 2007 Premiere Stages Play Festival; and Easter MondayPendragon Theatre, Saranac Lake, NY.  At the Theatre Artists Studio, Scottsdale, AZ, his Suocera and Mama and Jack Carew were performed. The Studio also produced Hal’s Peoria, The Death Bite, and seven of his short plays. His play Treed will be published by Playscripts, Inc., in their 2012 "Great Short Plays" series. *Published by Samuel French, Inc.
