Winding Road Theater Ensemble presents our 2023-2024 Season!

Winding Road is thrilled to present our 15th season, including:

String of Pearls by Michele Lowe. On the eve of her granddaughter Amy's wedding, Beth asks to see the pearls she gave Amy's mother long ago. When Amy cannot produce them, Beth determines to find the pearls. Spanning 35 years, the pearls touch the lives of mothers and daughters, sisters and friends, even husbands and wives as they weave a deeply affecting story of love and loss. While the pearls are stolen, bought, bestowed, unstrung and nearly lost, four actresses play 27 characters in this deeply moving drama that is as fresh as it is funny.

"A highly satisfying hilarious blend of sex, satire, poignancy and absurdism."
-The New York Times

Amadeus by Peter Shaffer. In the court of the Austrian Emperor Joseph II, Antonio Salieri is the established composer. Enter the greatest musical genius of all time: Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. Salieri has given himself to God so that he might realize his sole ambition, to be a great composer. Mozart is a foul-mouthed, graceless oaf who has that which is beyond Salieri's envious grasp: Genius. Amadeus premiered at the National Theatre in London in 1979, before transferring to Broadway, where it won the Tony Award for Best Play in 1981. The film version, screenplay also by Peter Shaffer, won the Academy Award for Best Picture in 1985.

"A total iridescent triumph of complexity of thought, emotion and dramatic power."
New York Post

Eight 10s in Tucson In the spring of 2024, we plan to present our 6th annual ten minute play festival, an evening of eclectic entertainment culled from hundreds of submissions from playwrights all over the United States. Tucson's own ten minute play festival has become a magnet for local theater artists, and remains a favorite of Winding Road audiences.

"... a reminder of the prodigious playwriting talent out there, the accomplished actors and directors we have here, and it exposes Tucsonans to new and exciting works."
- Kathleen Allen, Arizona Daily Star

Winding Read: Winding Road will also present an unpublished play to be workshopped with the playwright and performed as a staged reading before a live audience; title of play TBA. We are dedicated to continuing our 15 year mission of developing and producing new works to bring to Tucson audiences!
