ANNOUNCING OUR NEW SEASON!

 

 

From timeless classics to contemporary creations, our 2023-2024 Season features an exceptional array of choreographic works. Highlights include the return of treasured ballets The Nutcracker in partnership with the Tucson Symphony Orchestra, Giselle Act II, and George Balanchine's Serenade. We also bring eight premieres to the stage including Kiyon Ross' Sum Stravinsky, Andrea Schermoly's Klein Perspectives, a world premiere by Associate Artistic Director and Resident Choreographer Chieko Imada, and Tony Award-winner Christopher Wheeldon's After the Rain Pas de Deux.

Ballet Tucson returns to the main stage this fall with three invigorating masterworks. Witness the return of legendary choreographer George Balanchine's most iconic ballet Serenade and the Ballet Tucson premiere of his virtuosic Divertimento No. 15. Last fall world-renowned choreographer Andrea Schermoly's contemporary pas de deux left patrons awestruck and now you will see the complete work Klein Perspectives for the first time as a part of this inspiring triple bill.

Celebrate dance, song and romance just in time for Valentine's Day with a captivating program of four unique ballets. Love conquers all in the haunting masterpiece Giselle Act II, a treasured classic that has captured the hearts of audiences for generations. Associate Artistic Director and Resident Choreographer Chieko Imada creates another dazzling world premiere in partnership with the Tucson Desert Song Festival featuring the music of iconic French chanteuse Édith Piaf performed live onstage with our company's dancers. Originally created for Pacific Northwest Ballet's 40th Anniversary Season, Artistic Director Margaret Mullin's breathtaking ballet Lost in Light features original music by Tucson Symphony Orchestra Composer-in-Residence Dan Coleman. After the Rain Pas de Deux, an iconic piece by Tony Award-winning choreographer Christopher Wheeldon (An American in Paris and MJ The Musical), makes its Arizona debut on the Ballet Tucson stage.

Ballet Tucson closes the 2023-2024 season with four diverse and dynamic works! A regal jewel of classical ballet with lively Spanish flair, Paquita makes its long-awaited return to the stage. The Ballet Tucson premiere of choreographer Paul Gibson's neo-classical ballet The Piano Dance delivers a unique blend of athleticism, grace, humor and sensuality highlighted by a brilliant array of piano solos. The winning work from our 2023 Footprints at the Fox choreographer's showcase will make its main stage premiere. Known for his uplifting and energetic style, celebrated choreographer Kiyon Ross shares Sum Stravinsky, a charming tutu ballet with a twist, with regional audiences for the first time.
