Subject: Actors needed for Friday night shoot (MTV contest)

I'm working on a short film for MTV's "movie spoof" contest. I'll be
shooting on Friday night and need the following characters. No pay,
but copy, credit, and meals will be provided.

Roles needed:

"Superbad cops" - need to resemble the cops from Superbad, to a degree
at least. Seth Rogen's cop is chubby, curly hair, handlebar mustache.
Bill Hader's cop is lanky with a Clark Kent-like haircut.

"Will Smith" - persona from I Am Legend. Black male, short hair, in shape.

"Juno" - 16-20 female with dark hair and a knack for sounding like Daria.

"Beowulf" - 30+ male, muscular build. Comfortable with implied nudity
for comedic purposes.

"McLovin" - 16-20 male, thin frame, short dark hair.

I apologize for the short notice, and I appreciate anybody that's
willing to help out. Send me a pic and a little info about yourself.
If you've got something on Youtube that would be great, too.

Thanks!

Tucson: Best of Stories That Soar! AT STEVIE ELLER THEATRE

Subject: PRESS RELEASE: Stories that Soar! presents family friendly event this Saturday, May 10 at the Stevie Eller Dance Theatre

• FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE • MAY 6, 2008 •

• MEDIA CONTACT: LISA GERNAK 520.891.6841 •

STORIES THAT SOAR! PRESENTS A FAMILY EVENT AT STEVIE ELLER THEATRE

Best of Stories That Soar! Showcases Student Authors from 10 Tucson Elementary Schools

Where can you find a hungry Magic Box, a talking cat, a fish who flips, singing pirates aboard a fiery ship, and an evil tomato bent on taking over the world, along with a host of other imaginative characters in surprising situations!? Only at the Best of Stories that Soar!, of course.

This Saturday, May 10, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m at the Stevie Eller Dance Theatre Stories that Soar! will present their 2008 "Best of Stories that Soar!" show, weaving together some of the most innovative pieces written by kindergarten through sixthgrade authors from ten local Tucson schools.

In their third year operating as a nonprofit, Stories that Soar! empowers children to believe in themselves by giving voice to their original words and creative ideas. The Stories that Soar! (STS!) theatre program invites elementary school students to voluntarily "feed" the hungry, talking Magic Box™ their stories, promising to give them back magic! The result is both fascinating and delightful, with stories ranging from introspective to completely outrageous. The STS! professional acting troupe selects about twentyfive stories from the hundreds submitted for artistic interpretation. After working collaboratively to transform the stories, using dance, acrobatics, music, comedy, drama and more, the adult performers return to the school to give the children their stories back as a culturally rich, multimedia live performance. We culminate each season with the Best of Stories that Soar!, a spectacular event publicly celebrating the amazing powers of children's imaginations, literacy and the performing arts.

During the 2007-2008 academic year, Stories that Soar! visited ten schools within the Tucson Unified, Flowing Wells, Sunnyside, and Vail School Districts, bringing to life the stories of over 300 children.

There will be two performances of the Best of Stories that Soar! on May 10, a matinee at 2:00 P.M. and an evening at 7:00 P.M.  Both performances will be held at the Stevie Eller Dance Theatre on the University of Arizona campus (across from McKale Center). All are welcome to a preshow reception which begins an hour before curtain time for each performance and includes free refreshments, balloons, face painting, raffles, and a silent auction.  Some of the auction items include: hand-crafted artwork, a night at the theatre, a luxurious massage, and dinner for two.

This is a family-friendly community event for all ages.  Tickets are currently on sale at Antigone Books, 411 N. 4th Avenue, and Mrs. Tiggy-Winkles Toy Store, 4811 E Grant Rd # 151, Tucson, AZ. For additional ticket information, please call 975-9970 or 891-6841.

Tucson: URGENT MESSAGE FOR TUCSON CITY ARTS ADVOCATES!!!

Subject: URGENT MESSAGE FOR TUCSON CITY ARTS ADVOCATES!!!

URGENT MESSAGE FOR TUCSON CITY ARTS ADVOCATES!!!

The Tucson City Council will consider funding for arts and culture at a
public budget hearing today, Tuesday May 6, at 5:30 p.m. The meeting will
take place at City Hall, 255 W. Alameda.

While the City Manager has recommended level funding for the arts ($691,030
to Tucson Pima Arts Council), we still face a very real risk of budget cuts
due to the strong lobbying and advocacy of other groups for budget increases
such as police, fire, parks, libraries, etc. YOU know how important these
funds are to arts organizations and the city council needs to hear from you!

To help insure the continued support for arts and culture in Tucson, please
try to attend the meeting and encourage others to attend. If you are unable
to attend, place a call to your city councilmember asking that they preserve
support for the arts - tell them that the arts contribute to the vitality
and economy of the city and that many great non-profit organizations count
on the city's support.

Find contact information for your councilmember and look-up your city
council district at http://www.tucsonaz.gov/mcc.html.

Pass this message along to your arts friends and advocates to help insure
members of the Tucson City Council understand the importance of the arts to
our community!

Approximate schedule: Rehearsals begin December 1, Build begins December 22, On-stage runs/tech begins January 2, 2009, Preview January 9, 2009

All characters are late thirties to late forties and have known each other for years.

Gabe-a food critic, married to Karen

Karen-a gourmet chef, married to Gabe,

Beth-separating and ultimately divorcing Tom for his philandering

Tom-married to and ultimately divorced from Beth-who blames her since she was the first to drift

Winner of the 2000 Pulitzer Prize for Drama, the Lucille Lortel Award for Outstanding Off-Broadway Play, the Dramatists Guild/Hull-Warriner Award, the Outer Critics Circle Award, the American Theatre Critics Association New Play Award, and a Drama Desk Award nomination.

A funny, yet bittersweet, examination of the married lives of two couples who have been extremely close for dozens of years. Gabe and Karen, a happily married middle-aged couple, have been friends with Tom and Beth, another married couple, for many years. In fact, it was Gabe and Karen who fixed up their friends in the first place. While having dinner at Gabe and Karen's home one night, Beth tearfully reveals that she is getting a divorce from Tom, who has been unfaithful. Tom, who had been away on business, finds out that Beth has told their friends about the looming divorce, and hastens to Gabe and Karen's home. Tom and Beth had planned to tell their friends about their breakup together, but Tom now believes that Beth has unfairly presented herself as the wronged party, and feels he must present his own side of the story. Over the course of the play, we see both couples at different ages and stages of their lives, and we witness the effects of Tom and Beth's breakup on Gabe and Karen, who first feel compelled to choose sides, and then begin to question the strength of their own seemingly tranquil marriage.

"Dinner with Friends is entertainment as succulent as it is sobering." -John Simon, New York Magazine .
