birdwatching. The cast features Dennis O'Dell and Hannah Turner, both making their long overdue IT debuts!

 

 

 

 

 

 

John and his daughter Caitlyn are birders and as years go by they scan the skies over their backyard in suburban Maryland. Caitlyn grows up and her father ages. The climate and the world change in small and vast ways. As they witness the changing seasons and the shifting patterns of bird migration, they also confront their own personal transformations, revealing deeper truths about love, loss, and the passage of time.

Our performance application is open for two more weeks. If you're still on the fence or can't decide on what kind of show to perform? You don't need all your show details finalized to apply. The application ensures your name is in the hat for the lottery drawing. You'll have a couple months after the lottery drawing to work out the details. The Miss Firecracker Contest

September 6th - 29th

 

The place is the small Mississippi town of Brookhaven; the time is a few days before the Fourth of July. Carnelle Scott, affectionately dubbed "Miss Hot Tamale", is feverishly preparing for the Miss Firecracker Contest, desperate for a victory that she hopes will salvage her

tarnished reputation.

Carnelle perseveres through a rollercoaster journey, supported by the endearing and quirky cast of characters.

 

In this uproarious and heartwarming tale, The Miss Firecracker Contest promises an unforgettable blend of hilarity, compassion, and an enduring spirit.

 

 

The Miss Firecracker Contest  is directed by Michael Martinez and stars Zuleyl Castro, Emily Fuchs, and more. The show runs September 6th through 29th, 2024. Showings Friday and Saturday at 7:30pm. There is a $15 application fee at the time of submission

Please prepare a 32 bar/1 minute long non-Musical Theater song (folk, rock, jazz, gospel, etc.) or MT song in this style

 

Optional:

Please film 30 seconds of a dance routine or improvised movement

If you play an instrument, please self-accompany or play it on the tape as well to showcase your musical ability (guitar, accordion, violin, tambourine)

This popular fairytale of empowerment, determination, and triumph is brought to life with traditional marionettes and classical music.

 

Hansel and Gretel get lost in the forbidden forest while looking for food. They give in to the temptation of an enchanted candy house and find themselves trapped by an evil witch. They must use their wits if they are to escape her supernatural powers and be happily reunited with their family!

 

Recommended for Pre-K through 5th grade

Compensation: $14.50 - $16.00 per hour

 

Job Summary:

Scare Actors will be portraying various characters and monsters in the attractions at Nightfall. Scare Actors will be working in a specific location as specific characters with various lines of dialogue or movement patterns but will be required at times to adjust throughout their various attractions. Scare Actors will also be working in an environment where direct interaction with audience members of all ages will be essential to achieve the desired feel of the event. Scare actors will move throughout their various attractions to designated areas where they will attempt to scare audience members without physically touching them, or physically harming them.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Memorization and performance of approved dialogue and physical motions
• Learn attraction staging and scare areas.
• Understand attractions story and meaning to overarching story in the park.
• Receive new dialogue and memorize in a timely manner.
• Become familiar with other assigned attractions movements, dialogue and scare locations.
• Maintain a safe, welcoming, positive, and inclusive working environment and advises management with related concerns.
• Other duties as assigned.

Education, Skill, and Work Experience Requirements:

• Ability to work up to long days with prolonged standing.
• Prior scare/haunt experience
• Prior work in theme park events and non-traditional performance environments
• Ability to be flexible and adaptive to an ever-changing environment.
• Ability to make repetitive motions over extended periods of time.
• Ability and willingness to work evenings, weekends, holidays and late hours as production schedule may dictate.
• Commitment to working under shared leadership and in cross-functional teams.

Work Environment:

• Standing, walking, and running in locations with unbalanced footing.
• Varying temperatures and weather conditions; both indoor and outdoor.
• Ability to work in environments with strobe lights, darkness, enclosed spaces, loud music, sound effects, and smoke-filled environments.
• Most acting positions require repetitive movement.
• Ability to follow guidance from team leads.
• Fast paced and exciting environment.

It is an exciting time at the TIM Comedy School, our Stand Up 101 Class that started on Sunday was sold out! We love a full comedy class, and to usher people through their comedy journey.  We have two Improv 101 classes starting up soon, and we want you to join us.  Lindsay McEldowney will be teaching our next 6-week Improv 101 Class starting on Tuesday, August 20th.  We are again offering our Improv 101 One Day Intensive, with Jessica Hill on Saturday, August 31st. You can get our whole 101 curriculum done in just one day, it's a long day but a great one. Take a walk in the Yes And Life with us!

We can't wait to host the 10th Annual Tucson Comedy Arts Festival on October 10th-19th! We are doing 10 days of comedy for 10 years of festivals! We are currently accepting submissions here for improv teams that want to perform at the festival, they are due by Friday, August 23rd.

News: 

 

Polly Schlitz is offering additional classes for more advanced actors age 12-18 this session, to focus on specific projects and interests.  "Advanced Monologues" will be Tuesday afternoons, "Advanced Scenework" will be Thursday afternoons.  

 

Polly's new class is "Writing for the Theatre", offered on Mondays, 4:30-6:00pm, students will write scenes or monologues, and then choose if they want to perform in the themselves as an actor or "cast" others in the class in their play/monologue for the performance.  So, those more interested in writing rather than acting are definitely welcome in this class as performing is optional for each student.  

 

New this fall! Dungeons & Dragons Fall Break Camp! Dana Busenbark (she taught a D&D class for us in the spring) is available this year to lead a D&D game camp for us!  This will be the week of Oct 7-11 (the fall break for most schools in Tucson) with a morning session open to ages 10-14 and afternoon session open to ages 12-18. The camp will feature an ongoing game campaign throughout the week.  Students new to the game are welcome.  More info below.  This camp has an early registration discount through 9/1.

Students will explore drama through improv and theatre games, and together create a short play to be presented on the final day of class.

Students will learn acting skills and rehearse and perform a scripted play live on the final day of class. 

 

Intermediate Acting Class:

Students will learn fun new improv games, which is not only a fun activity, but encourages teamwork and confidence on stage, important for any aspiring actor.

4:30-6:00pm

Cost: $140, or $25 off through 8/21

Students will learn acting skills and rehearse and perform a play on the final day of class. Prior experience is not required for this class, but the play is more advanced than the Acting I play. 

 

Advanced Monologues, Ages 12-18

Tuesdays, 8/27-9/17, 4 weeks

4:30pm-6:00pm

Cost: $90, or $25 off through 8/12

Instructor: Polly Schlitz

Students will perform monologues selected from plays in this advanced level acting class.  Prior experience in acting recommended for this class. 

 

Advanced Scenework, Ages 12-18

Thursdays, 8/29-9/19, 4 weeks

4:30pm-6:00pm

Cost: $90, or $25 off through 8/12

Instructor: Polly Schlitz

Students will perform scenes selected from plays in this advanced level acting class.  Prior experience in acting recommended for this class. 

 

Writing for the Theatre, Ages 12-18

Mondays, 9/9-9/30, 4 weeks

4:30pm-6:00pm

Cost: $90, or $25 off through 8/12

Instructor: Polly Schlitz

This class provides you the opportunity to express yourself through writing. You can create the monologue, the scene, or the play. Or you could write your own one-person show or write poetry for a poetry jam. You can write whatever is on your mind or let your imagination take wing. Veteran theatre teacher Polly Schlitz will guide you through the process. Students may choose if they wan to perform what they have written themselves or cast a classmate.  

 

Music Class:

 

Rock Music, Ages 11-18

Saturdays, 8/24-10/5, 7 weeks 

12:30-2:30pm

Cost: $160, or $25 off through 8/12

Instructor: Jace Hampton

Class is open to both musicians and singers. Some prior lessons are required for musicians, no experience required for singers. Students will form a band, create a set list, and rehearse for a concert to be performed on the final day of class.

Students will play the classic role-playing game led by an expert game master. Students who have not played D&D before are encouraged to sign up for the morning session as the afternoon group will be more experienced (or can just sign up for the one that works better with their schedule).
