THE MAGIC BOX MAKES ITS WAY TO SUNNYSIDE DISTRICT

Mission Manor Elementary is being taken over by Stories that Soar!

At 9:30 a.m. on Friday, April 4, 2008 Stories that Soar! performs at Mission Manor Elementary School located at 600 West Santa Rosa Street in Tucson.  This is Mission Manor's first year with Stories that Soar!, so the kids may not know what to expect.  The students have fed the "hungry" Magic Box™ over 600 stories and are currently waiting that day when adult performers transform their stories into an innovative, magical performance created especially for them.

This is a first not only for Mission Manor, but for the Sunnyside District as well.  The mission of Stories that Soar! is to empower children to believe in themselves by giving voice to their original words and creative ideas.  The program honors that mission by bringing these students' stories to life AND by bringing each author on stage to join the cast in the reprise of the Stories that Soar! theme song as a celebration of their contribution to the event.  Being able to accomplish this mission in another district, only further accentuates the goals of SharMoore Children's Productions, an arts-in-education nonprofit organization now in its third year of operation, which provides this program.

Although each Stories that Soar! program starts in a similar way with the Magic Box inviting children to  write about anything at all, the results vastly differ depending on the school population and the time of year the program takes place. At the Mission Manor show, prepare to be charmed by comic-style super heroes, creepy adventures through a haunted house, and sincere feelings about what the students want to be when they grow up.

Come see how the magic of Stories that Soar! brings the words of Mission Manor students to life on Friday, April 4, 2008 at Mission Manor at 9:30 a.m.  Visitors are welcome and encouraged to come see this show as long as they check in at the office.
