Waypoint Theatre Company to hold auditions for annual dessert theater AWAY WITH THE MANGER: A SPIRITUALLY CORRECT CHRISTMAS STORY  with book by Chris Fabry, adapted to the stage by Tennille Kumulainen and Chuck Neighbors

 

Waypoint Theatre Company, southern Arizona's faith-based, live theatre company will be auditioning Christian theatre artists for their upcoming tongue in cheek Christmas comedy, AWAY WITH THE MANGER: A SPIRITUALLY CORRECT CHRISTMAS STORY with book by Chris Fabry, and adapted to the stage by Tennille Komulainen and Chuck Neighbors the week of October 17-21, 2011 at Catalina Foothills Church, 2150 E. Orange Grove (Skyline and Orange Grove) in north central Tucson.

Auditions will be held specifically for the following roles:

PHYLLIS:           (mid-20s-40s)       An attractive, flamboyant television on air personality who plays both

                                                          sides of issues.  Combined role with Sales Manager (vocal role) and               

                                                          Helen Houlett, conservative attorney.

 

DJ STARR/PROFESSOR TAL

   (30s-late 60s):                            Larger than life, exuberant local radio DJ.  Also portrays Professor Tal,

                                                         a liberal-minded, laid back professor of new "theology"

 

IMMER WRIGHT

   (40s-early 70s):                        Ultra conservative, right wing church deacon and owner of Wright's

                                                       Hardware Store in Hartville, Ohio.

 

Auditions by appointment only.  Please prepare a 1-2 minute comedy monologue and bring a recent headshot and resume.  Be prepared to read selected sections of the script (to be emailed to auditioners).  Contact Waypoint Artistic Director, Melanie David at waypoint.theatre@gmail.com to schedule an appointment this week, access the script, etc.  Those who have an interest in  Waypoint, may visit the website at: www.waypoint-theatre.org.
