A not to be missed workshop with Master Percussionist Marcio Peeter of ILE AIYE!
Come learn the deep grooves and roots of SAMBA AFRO as well as samba reggae. Understand the differences and the correct way to play.
Learn from someone who has grown up in the Bloco Afro ILE AIYE - the first of it's kind in Bahia, that others, such as Olodum, followed. Marcio has collaborated with the likes of Carlinhos Brown, Daniela Mercury, and Margareth Menezes, and more. He has been the most recognized teacher for the Samba Reggae/Afro Ensemble classes at California Brazil Camp, and Sol Axe has been studying with him for a decade.
Some drums available but limited, feel free to bring your own:
Surdos (bass), timbal (congas) caixa (snare), repenique, agogo (bell), chekere, pandiero, and any capoeira instruments (atabaques) or djembes.
Workshop is 2-4pm
$20 drop in
$15 prepaid (click on the link below)
