Thank you for your interest in the AET production of Hair. Please prepare 32-bars or up to 2-min of an up-tempo song AND ballad for the audition from a musical theatre production (not from Hair). Select ONE to sing at the audition. Then, you MAY be asked to sing the second song if needed by the director. Please bring tracks (an accompanist will not be provided). A sound system with AUX cord will be available.

Actors are called based on the show/role (actors are not called for all rehearsals). Actors interested in Lead/Supporting or Understudy Roles will be asked to confirm that they have no/minimal conflicts (with no conflicts during tech week or shows).
PLEASE NOTE: If you attended AET's 2023-24 Season Auditions and were called back for HAIR, you DO NOT need to sign-up for these auditions.
Due to the subject matter. there are no roles for any actor under the age of 18 (as of the date of the first rehearsal).

Synopsis
Got a wild hair? The musical that introduced rock 'n' roll to the theatrical stage, Hair examines a group of 60s-era youth struggling for generational and personal identity, dealing with the Vietnam War, and exploring drugs and the sexual revolution. Many of Hair's well known counterculture ballads like "Aquarius," "Let the Sunshine In," and "Good Morning Starshine" went on to become Top 10 Hits and captured the spirit of the '60s.
