Beowulf Alley Theatre has immediate openings for volunteer tech staff for its inaugural season opening production of Criminal Hearts and future productions. We have a great new space, state-of-the-art tech equipment and a fun group of people. Come be a part of the excitement!
We are looking for Operators for Lights and Sound who can be available for tech rehearsals and performances from September 10th through October 16th. Experience with tech equipment is important but we can offer some training to a person who is a quick study and possesses a commitment to the production schedule. Weekday rehearsals will be 4p or later (some flexibility) and performances are Fri/Sat evenings and Sunday matinees.

Beowulf Alley Theatre, a 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization, is seeking volunteers to assist with all phases of our theatre operations for the 2005-2006 season. If you’re handy with a computer, mailing lists, filing, organization, answering phones, we would love to have you in the office. If you have fundraising skills, graphic design skills, like to sell advertising, we’d be thrilled to have you join us. If you can swing a hammer, sew a seam or hem a skirt, shop for props or set dressings, operate a light or sound board, or would like to be a stage hand, our production team could use your valuable skills. If you would like to help us on performance nights with concessions, box office, or ushering, our front of house team could really use your help. If you can run a vacuum cleaner, sweep or dust, we can always use your help to spruce up before we open a show. Our support needs are unlimited and we encourage you to get involved. Whether you have just 1 hour a month or a day or two a week, we would appreciate your time and skills. You might even learn some new things or discover that you have hidden talents. Our new space is great. We have state-of-the-art tech equipment and a fun group of people. Come be a part of the excitement! Make new friends and learn new things.

Stark Naked Productions' has expanded its call for GLBT scripts from
Southwestern playwrights (We are now taking electronic submissions, and our
call for scripts covers a wider area than previously)
Stark Naked Productions, in conjunction with Wingspan (Souther Arizona's
Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender Community Center) is seeking scripts
for their First Words Festival of gay, lesbian, bisexual, and trans-themed
plays by Southwestern playwrights.
Selected plays will to be produced, with a cash award to the playwrights, in
Tucson Arizona in the Spring of 2006. Plays may be of any length, and can
have been previously performed, but must be unpublished. No musicals or
screenplays please. We are looking for plays with GLBT characters and
themes, with a preference for plays focusing on family issues.
Submissions must be postmarked by October 31, 2005 to be eligible.
Playwrights must be currently residing in Arizona, Colorado, Nevada, New
Mexico, Utah, or Southern California to be eligible to submit.
Each playwright may only submit ONE play.

Do not include the author's on any page of the play; instead, please make
sure both your name and the name of the play are in the text of your e-mail,
and send your play as an attachment, preferably a word file (pdf's are also

CASTING CALL
There will be an open casting call this Saturday 10 September 2005 from 10
a.m.
until 3 p.m. being held for a U. of A. student senior film. The auditions
will be held in the Harvill Building room 102 located at 1103 E 2nd St.
This is a short film tentatively entitled "Vengeance" and is set in a
fantasy world. It is a story about a young girl who witnesses her father
being killed and sets out on a journey to avenge him.
?Vengeance? is tentatively scheduled to be shot during the week of 1
November through 6 November 2005.
The parts we are casting for are :
Arienna: A young girl training to become a Ranger. Female 12-16 :
Joran: Arienna?s father. He is a well known Ranger. Male 35-50
Scarred Marauder: leader of the Marauding group that is
responsible for Joran?s death. Male 30ish
Caelin: A priestess of Sirannath who betrays her temple for the
power to control the world. Female 20ish
High Priestess of Sirannath : Female 60-80
Serving Girl at the Inn: Female 16-20
Inn Keeper: Male 40ish
We also will need actors of all ages to play as extras for : Raiders,
Marauders, Priests, Priestesses, and Inn Patrons.

Four short films will be holding auditions for a variety of comedic and

respective father/husband. There home now converted into a bed and
breakfast hosts a strange women who tries to help the mother come to terms
with her grief. A boy enters the daughter's life in turn helping her with

Synopsis:
The birth of a legend is occurring. Not Santa Claus, not the Tooth Fairy,
but THE ON CALL TEDDY BEAR. Is he a man or is he a teddy bear? It's not
important, but it is hilarious. The story shows his fall from grace and his
rise from the ashes. Full of heart, with a mix of smart and silly humor,
"The On-Call Teddy" is a story that anyone who has ever been a child can
relate to.

Teddy : a man in a bear suit (20-30)
Crystal : a prostitute with a heart of gold (20-30) Kevin : a child, who
hasn?t had an easy go in life (10-12) John : one of Crystal's clients

SYNOPSIS
Laura is a teaching assistant. She can't help but make fun of her student's
overwritten and incomprehensible essays. Jacob, one of Laura's English 101
students, over uses some especially silly and sexually charged language. The
jokes quickly snowball and Laura is dared to write suggestive comments as
the feedback to Jacob's essay. Laura gets caught up in a dirty email
exchange disguised as suggestions on how Jacob can improve his writing. Soon
she's in over her head realizing that she's actually sort of attracted to
the kid.
TEACHER is a dramatic comedy. It's a story about school, attraction, and
taking risks.

saying goodbye to his father, Herman, and his best friend, Ethan. The story
takes place over Graham?s last evening with his father and flashes to past
events concerning the relationship Ethan has to his father. Ultimately,
Graham must decide to let matters between his father go unsettled or
confront them before he leaves the next morning.

Micro-Cinema Screenings at Club Congress
Created by filmmaker Timothy Gassen for Purple Cactus Media Productions, the
TucsonFilm.com Micro-Cinema screens independent short film and video, with
an emphasis on Arizona talent. Dramatic, documentary, artistic and
experimental film and video are all welcome and encouraged.

The TucsonFilm.com Micro-Cinema screenings take place at Club Congress
(located inside the historic Hotel Congress, 311 E. Congress Street in
downtown Tucson).
The monthly screenings start at 7 p.m., and are followed by a filmmaker
meet-and-greet mixer until 9 p.m. Admission is free, and a full bar is
available.
(Filmgoers under 21 must be accompanied by an adult.)
"The micro-cinema movement gives truly independent filmmakers the
opportunity to be seen," Gassen says.
"Our grassroots screenings hope to bring a wide variety of exciting, new
ideas in film to Tucson that wouldn't be seen together anywhere else. Now we
need local filmmakers to step forward and submit their films!"
All filmmakers- both local and international - are welcome to submit short
films for the monthly screenings, with no submission fee. Walk-up films will
not be screened immediately - all submissions must be made in advance.
Joining the partnership of TucsonFilm.com and Club Congress is
AzNightBuzz.com - the entertainment Web site will host free streaming sample
films from the screenings.
"We're working to create a professional, friendly environment where all
kinds of media makers come to share their films, ideas and also network to
create more local films," Gassen continues. "We have filmmaker interviews
and Q&A sessions, along with the screenings, and stay after as long as
Tucsonans want to talk film."
