Introducing PACZ & the New ZUZI!

Greetings!

Happy October!

We can't believe how quickly things have been moving along here at ZUZI! Dance, not just in time, but also in activity. There have been several MAJOR changes in the organization and we can finally tell you about them.

Firstly, in our commitment to providing opportunities and resources for the artistic community to grow, we are proud to announce the formation of PACZ: The Performing Arts Coalition at ZUZI!  PACZ is the result of a concerted effort to create a hub of live performance where various creative groups inhabit a shared home, our home, the ZUZI! Theater in The Historic Y.

We have joined forces with two non-profit performance groups--Winding Road Theater Ensemble and Something Something Theatre Company--to bring each of our unique visions to the stage. Winding Road aims to tell dynamic, theatrical stories with a special commitment to developing new work by American playwrights while Something Something intends to bring more diversity to Tucson's stages with plays by female and minority playwrights that are intellectually and emotionally accessible. Find out more at pacz.info.

ZUZI! Dance, meanwhile, is refining our creative process. We have disbanded the dance company in favor of a project-driven approach, where dancers will be cast by invitation or audition for specific shows. We feel that this will create opportunities for more dancers to move in more ways. Furthermore ZUZI! will continue to focus on our multigenerational dance and somatic education programs because we believe that everyone can benefit from relating to the unique perspectives of varying aged individuals.

BUT WAIT! THERE'S MORE!

We have also restructured the business operations. Nanette Robinson, co-founder of ZUZI!, has been working exceedingly hard for the last few years as both Artistic Director and Acting Executive Director, a formidable task for which we are very grateful for her service. In order to relieve her of the burden of business management so she can more freely develop our artistic and educational visions, Nanette Robinson will fulfill the role of the newly created position of Director of Arts Education.

Additionally, ZUZI! Dance has promoted our present Marketing Coordinator, Paul Galbraith (that's me, hi!) to the position of Executive Director. He... I mean I... intend to work diligently to help the organization fulfill our recently revised mission (see About Us panel to the left) and to help guide ZUZI! Dance into the future as the premier multigenerational dance and somatic arts service organization in Tucson.

We are proud to be entering our 19th year and are looking forward to the 20th and beyond.

Thank you all for your time, interest, dedication, and support! You are the reason we are here.

Thank you, again.

Come in. Be moved.
