Dear Artifact audience members, patrons and friends:

I want to thank everyone who attended Artifact Dance Project's latest production, Surrounding Dillinger. It was a memorable experience for us all. Five years ago, Claire Hancock and I first made the project a long-term goal. This year, during three months of intensive rehearsal, Cameron Hood of the band Ryanhood remained by my side as I choreographed the production, adding a priceless creative element to the artistic process. True to our mission of presenting innovative and original dance with live music through exceptional collaborations, our dancers, our production team and Ryanhood came together to fulfill our dream.

It is hard not to be in awe of Artifact Dance Project. The company constantly moves forward, stretching itself. Stretching us. It's contemporary dance. It's theater. It's a concert. And it is, simply, astounding. … Artifact is not afraid. It's willing to challenge itself and us – an essential element to good, important art.  (Kathleen Allen, Arizona Daily Star, March 2017)

Artifact is always looking toward the future. We have projects and collaborations lined up that will continue to inspire our community and will enable our company members to grow. Our next production, Katterwaul + Artifact, a collaboration with the "glam rock" band Katterwaul, is choreographed by Logan Moon Peniston, one of our company members, who began dancing as a student at Sabino High School in Tucson.

Art is not our hobby. It is our livelihood. To retain the talented dancers who are the heartbeat of Artifact, we pay them competitive, fair compensation. We are a frugal company that does a lot with very little. Ticket sales pay for only a very small portion of our costs.  We rely heavily on donations from our generous friends to help us maintain the high quality of our productions.

Artifact is a treasure. It is a point of pride for our city. Our support is essential in order for it to keep Tucson its home, and to keep us in awe. (K. Allen)

Please consider making a contribution to Artifact Dance Project today, to help us complete our season and start producing the next one.

With love and passion for the arts,

Ashley Bowman
Co-artistic Director
