Spanish language performances to feature award winning, Mexican actress, Luisa Huertas/ Funciones en español con la Primera Actriz mexicana Luisa Huertas

Thirteen-year-old Elikia, resilient and courageous, leads young Joseph on a harrowing escape through the jungle. Their moving story is played out through memories and the testimony of Angelina; the dedicated nurse who cared for them. This life affirming and intimate portrayal of courage and hope, examines the use of children in political conflict and war.

Elikia, de trece años, una muchacha fuerte y valiente, lleva al pequeño José en una huida angustiosa a través de la jungla. Su conmovedora historia se desarrolla a través de los recuerdos y el testimonio de Angelina; la enfermera dedicada que los cuidó. Este retrato de valor y esperanza afirma la vida y nos recuerda de este inquietante problema mundial- el uso de niños en conflictos políticos y guerras.

This production is a collaborative project between/ Esta producción es un proyecto de colaboración entre el: Teatro Dignidad, Coalición de Derechos Humanos, el Consulado de México en Tucson, UNAM (Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México,) y la Compañía Nacional de Teatro del Fondo Nacional Para la Cultura y Las Artes en México, Pima Community College Department of International Development, University of Arizona (UA) Confluence Center for Creative Inquiry, UA College of Social and Behavioral Sciences-Mexico Initiatives. (The play will include a series of educational forums about the impact of political conflict and war on children/ La obra incluirá una serie de foros sobre el impacto del conflicto político y la guerra en los niños.)
