There's No Party

Like an Unscrewed Theater House Party

And this Saturday, you're invited to TWO of 'em!

Start your weekend off with some homegrown, locally-sourced improv comedy.

Family-friendly show starts at 7:30pm and you can join us from WHEREVER. Even the moon (provided you've got internet up there)!

This week's special guest is none other than Vicki McGee! Vicki is a former long-time NBOJU member who will be joining us from Thousand Oaks, California! After she left Tucson, she went on to found Free Range Comedy. She'll be joined by Jessica, David, Dawn, Rosanne, Ann - & your host, Chris Seidman!

Register for our family-friendly 7:30 showhttps://www.unscrewedtheater.org/event/ut-house-party-2020-09-12/.

The weekends are hot and so are our shows! We've got another unscripted, unplanned, UNCENSORED improv show @ 9:30pm this Saturday.

If your sense of humor is a bit more on the dark side, our late night show is for you.

Our special guest this week is Stacy Seaman. Stacy was one of NBOJU's very first members and is part of the reason we're here today! She also performed for many years up in Sierra Vista with Exit 185 Improv. Stacy will be joining Jessica, David, Rosanne, Jon - & your host, Cy Barlow for a night of totally uncensored improv fun.

Celeste Pechous + Scotty Watson Workshops

All online! Join us from WHEREVER you are!

Sunday 9/20 & 9/27

Celeste Pechous Workshops!

Celeste Pechous has been kicking the comedy improv tires for the last two decades.

You can currently find her playing Campbell on Showtime's critically acclaimed dark comedy Work in Progress.

She's an alumna of the National Touring Company with Second City, and has performed comedy all over the world. She has trained and performed at the Second City, iO Chicago/LA, and The Annoyance.

Celeste will be joining us online to teach FOUR special workshops, from her home in L.A. to yours! You can participate in the fun from ANYWHERE.

Register for all Four Workshops https://www.unscrewedtheater.org/product/pechous-2020-09/ - or check the descriptions for individual workshops below!

The Initiation

Sunday, September 20, 10am

Register: https://www.unscrewedtheater.org/event/pechous-initiation-2020-09-20/

The first few lines of an improvised scene are the beginnings of a blueprint for said scene. Initiating can sometimes provoke anxiety. This concentration will work that initiation muscle and lessen those fears so you can be confident right out of the gate. We'll focus on removing all second-guessing of yourself when it comes to starting a scene by providing strong initiating choices, actions and dialogue.

A Taste of Long-form

Sunday, September 20, 2pm

Register: https://www.unscrewedtheater.org/event/pechous-longform-2020-09-20/

Dissect the long-form structure bit by bit, starting with the opening and moving into the game, tag outs, walk-ons, editing, callbacks, ensemble, grounded-scene work, environment/object heightening and of course the characters and relationships that drive the long-form forward. "The Montage" and "The Oak Tree" will be the centerpiece of this focus.

The Two-Person Monoscene

Sunday, September 27, 10am

Register: https://www.unscrewedtheater.org/event/pechous-monoscene-2020-09-27/

A ten-minute, two-person scene… make you a little nervous? Good. That means you're ready. Before you know it you'll easily be able to do a two-person 25 minute set. Detailed analyzation and notes after each scene. YOU can (and will) do it.

The Supporting Role

Sunday, September 27, 2pm

Register: https://www.unscrewedtheater.org/event/pechous-support-2020-09-27/

Support Roles are often undermined in their concrete ability to heighten and enhance a scene to it's full potential. This workshop will allow you to look at the scene from a whole new angle via different avenues of supporting what is already there by adding to the scene via entrances, exits, walk-ons, background and atmosphere. Find purpose, timing and voice in your supporting roles.

Friday 9/25

5 - 8pm
Scotty Watson Improv ShowShop

Improviser Scotty Watson returns to our virtual training center for a workshop that's inspired by the work of Elaine May & Del Close.

You'll learn the four basics of improvisation:

  1. Make active & positive choices
  2. Support each other
  3. It's an actor's job to justify (work with what you have)
  4. Be seen & be heard

That SAME NIGHT, you show off your new skills in a live-streamed online show, which we'll feature on the Unscrewed Theater Facebook page!
