In the century in which I was the wife of a president, I observed that men might rule by strength alone and command not only their fellow man but even their affection by the stern authority of intellectual greatness.
But when a woman attempted this, she was a monster.
So, we have an additional reason to be grateful that time happens.

Years of research by the playwright culminated in this other-worldly encounter between Hillary Clinton and select first ladies of American history, set in the aftermath of the 2016 presidential election. From the overshadowed Louisa Adams and the flamboyant Julia Tyler, to the accomplished Ellen Wilson and Ladybird Johnson, ten of the First Ladies welcome Hillary Clinton to the sorority, in an evening of compassion, commiseration, and consolation.
Presented as a reading in 2018, this online production is presented in collaboration with the playwright, Winding Road Founder Toni Press-Coffman. Consolation has been fully rehearsed and memorized, and will be presented with stage settings and costuming, in this socially distanced online production.
The excellent ensemble cast features Susan Cookie Baker, Abigail Dunscomb, Lori Hunt, Cynthia Jeffery, Kat McIntosh, Winding Road Ensemble Members Denise Blum and Lena Quach, and Molly Lyons making her Winding Road acting debut as Hillary Clinton. Consolation is directed by Winding Road Ensemble Member China Young.
Consolation will be presented as a live streamed performance on Friday September 25th at 7:30 pm MST, with live recordings of that performance streamed September 27th, October 4th, and October 11th at 2pm, and October 3rd and 9th at 7:30 pm. Tickets are only $15 for all audience members.
