Dawn is bringing even more improvisers together with Season Two of 10 Minutes with Dawn!

Every Friday, you can watch as a brand new artist from around the world comes to play and make some stuff up with Dawn. It's improv that comes right to your home! And it's only on our Facebook page.

This week, we're thrilled to welcome Karla Dingle!

Karla Dingle has spent her life on the stage. She began taking theater classes at age 5 and continued to study acting until receiving her Bachelor's Degree from the University of Georgia in Theater in 1998. Karla began performing improv in Charlotte in 2009 and continues to educate herself through workshops and classes at Second City, Hoopla, The Groundlings, and more. Karla is also an actor and voiceover artist.

Currently, Karla is the Improv Director and Acting Instructor at Acting Out Studio in Charlotte, NC. She is also a faculty member and instructor with the Queen City Comedy's Global Improv Project, which connects improvisers worldwide.

Karla instructs students from England, Israel, India, Canada, Mexico, South Africa, the Philippines, and beyond. In addition, she has been a guest instructor at the Vintage Improv Festival, Highwire Improv, The Nursery, Liverpool Comedy Improv, and the Bangalore India Improv Community.

You can see her performing with Now are the Foxes Improv Comedy, Don't Mess Improv, Close Distance Improv, Charlotte Comedy Theater, Background Noise Musical Improv, and the Duo Judkins and Dingle.

Karla's students have been featured in National Commercials for CVS, Lending Tree, Food Lion, and more. Additionally, her students have filmed feature films for Netflix and Amazon Prime as well as television series and voiceover work.

Remember that the Scholars, Professors, and Intellectuals are not who Shakespeare wrote for – he wrote for actors first and the audience (many of whom were drunk and rowdy) next, so let's join the party!

"The play's the thing," and we do mean play.

They are called "plays," and that is what we are going to do. If you want a serious look at Shakespeare's work, "Pray thee look not hereupon, for we seek silly here."

A bit about playing Shakespeare and faking Shakespeare. Secrets of thee, thou and thy, word patterns and tropes.

About the instructor...
Jon Benda has been with NBOJU for 16 years. He has studied and performed in improv, interactive theatre, classic theatre, and children's theatre. Jon loves taking classes and has taken most of what Unscrewed Theater has offered. His greatest strength is in interactive theatre, and he has studied with Gary Izzo, among others. He wants actors to play at the top of their game.

Since reopening in August 2021, all of our instructors, performers, students, and volunteers are required to be vaccinated against COVID-19. In addition, face masks are worn at all times, except by performers and students when performing on stage.

EFFECTIVE SEPTEMBER 24TH, we will require all audience members to be fully vaccinated or have tested negative for COVID-19 within the last 48 hours.
