About the Production

The Invisible Theatre's 54th season concludes with a delectable foray into musical theatre — Noël Coward's Oh, Coward!, a delightfully intimate revue devised by Roderick Cook. Three performers, accompanied by piano, weave together Coward's most beloved songs and sketches into an unforgettable evening of wit, style, and song.

Coward's songs and sketches about British high and low society, the "theatah", mad dogs, Englishmen, and other noteworthy subjects sparkle with the Master's dry-as-a-martini wit. His effervescent music and charming quips combine for an evening of some of the most memorable tunes of the twentieth century — a celebration of one of theatre's greatest entertainers.

Oh, Coward! originally opened Off-Broadway in 1972, running for 294 performances, and has since become a beloved fixture of the intimate cabaret-theatre tradition worldwide. This production marks a rare Tucson staging of this witty, warm revue in the ideal setting: an eighty-seat house where performer and audience are inseparably close.

About the Work & Its Creator

About Oh, Coward!

Oh, Coward! was devised by Roderick Cook and originally produced Off-Broadway in 1972, running for 294 performances. The revue draws from the full sweep of Noël Coward's career — his cabaret songs, musical comedies, operettas, and revues — weaving them into an intimate theatrical portrait of the man himself.

Familiar titles in the Coward canon include Mad Dogs and Englishmen, I'll See You Again, Mrs. Worthington, If Love Were All, and dozens of others that have endured as touchstones of 20th-century musical theatre and cabaret.

About Noël Coward

Sir Noël Coward (1899–1973) was one of the most versatile and celebrated figures in twentieth-century theatre — playwright, composer, lyricist, actor, singer, and director. His works ranged from sophisticated comedies such as Private Lives and Blithe Spirit to operettas, musical revues, and film.

Coward's distinctive voice — elegant, sharply comic, and unexpectedly tender — made him a singular figure in British and international culture. His work remains fresh, wickedly funny, and deeply theatrical.
