AWARD-WINNING ACTOR TO CONDUCT ACTOR’S WORKSHOP

     Waypoint Theatre Company, southern Arizona’s premier faith-based live theatre organization, is pleased to announce an actor’s workshop to be led by award-winning actress, Lesley Abrams, on Sunday, March 2, from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. at Catalina Foothills Presbyterian Church/room 406 in northwest Tucson.

     The participatory workshop, “The 5-Step Approach to Creating a Believable Character”, will begin with a fun mixer, and focus on a series of improvisational techniques for creating a five-step personal approach to  creating an onstage role, which include “Imagination” (what if…), Intuition (improv), Observation, Analysis of script, and Experience (drawing from the self).

     Lesley Abrams is co-founder of the LaughingStock Comedy Company, which specializes in creating customized comedy for business audiences nationwide.  Locally, she has appeared in productions of the Tucson premiere of Doubt, New House New Dog, Steel Magnolias, Noises Off, and Sister Ignatius.  She won the Arizona Daily Star “Mac” award for her portrayal of the psychiatrist in Frozen.  She is currently working on a one-woman show about the writer Dorothy Parker.  She studied Second City Theatre in Chicago, as well as Northwestern University and received a Master’s in Theatre Studies from the University of Arizona.  She has been teaching theatre and improvisation for over 20 years.  Ms. Abrams currently serves as the Director of Children’s Ministry at Christ Presbyterian Church in Tucson.

      There is a workshop fee of $10.00 payable to Waypoint Theatre Company.  Due to space limitations, the workshop will be open to the first thirty (30) participants to register by mail (including a check or money order) through February 25, 2008.  Contact WTC Artistic Director, Melanie David at (520) 742-9079 for more information.  Please note “actor’s workshop” when sending reservation and check/money order to the address below:
