Tucson, AZ -- Pima Community College Music presents Northern Arizona University music faculty Dr. Jonathan Lapins in a Tuba Recital. The varied and eclectic program features works by J.S. Bach, Schumann, Pilafian, Vincent Bach, Madsen, Penderecki and Ewazen. Lapins performs on contrabass and bass tubas, as well as the euphonium. His wife, Dr. Sharon Weyser, horn, joins him in a suite for horn, tuba and piano by the composer Madsen. David Craig is accompanist.
 
Lapins teaches euphonium, tuba, chamber music and the history of rock music at Northern Arizona University. Tubist with the Elden Brass Quintet, he previously performed as principal tuba of several professional orchestras and brass quintets in the Midwest. Dr. Lapins is heard on hundreds of recordings in a wide variety of ensembles, and has performed with the Chicago, Cincinnati, Charleston (SC) and Indianapolis Symphony Orchestras. He has performed extensively throughout the United States, Asia, South America, and Europe. Previously on faculty at the University of Indianapolis and Indiana State University, he holds degrees from Indiana University, the University of Michigan, and James Madison University.
