Beowulf Alley Theatre presents 'Word Clouds', a play by Arizona Playwriting Award winner Michael Fenlason and Tomas Ulises-Soto, featuring music by In Search of a Word's Tristyn Tucci.
Performances are on January 6 and 7, 2012 at 7:30 pm.
Word Clouds tells the moving, poignant story of ordinary and extraordinary responses to the Safeway shooting tragedy of one year ago. Originally performed in March of 2011, the play proves to be prescient, timely and a moving tribute to the enduring heart of Tucson.
This play was written days after the Safeway shooting. We were going to meet that weekend and talk about what we wanted to do for March at our Late Night slot, but we found, like so many others, we couldn't really talk about anything else. The play is about Tucson's reactions: the ordinary and extraordinary people that make up our city and how we came together with dignity and love in the face of terrible violence. In some ways, the play turned out to be prescient one year later. Every tragedy has a love story. This one had about a million.
Thanks to In Search of a Word's Tristyn Tucci for her gorgeous music in the show and wonderful acting as well as the marvelous cast of Mark Klugheit, Whitney Morton, Brian Hanson, Evan Engle, Nicole Scott, Bree Boyd-Martin and Ben Hoffman.
Once again, we will be donating a portion of our proceeds to the Tucson Community Food Bank. Any other gift in kind will be graciously accepted as well.
