L.U.N.A Theatre Company presents "Steel Magnolias" by Robert Harling

TUCSON___L.U.N.A. Theatre Company is presenting their Tucson debut production of "Steel Magnolias" by Robert Harling at the Comedy Playhouse and School located on the NE corner of 1st & Prince.

L.U.N.A. (Love, Understanding, Nurturing, and Awareness) is an organization dedicated to helping marginalized causes raise donations and awareness, while reaching the public through artistic performances. L.U.N.A. strives to push the envelope while educating audiences and raising social awareness in hopes of making the world a better place, one performance at a time. All L.U.N.A. productions focus on tough issues of today's society, and are linked to special non-profits. You can find us on Facebook at facebook.com/LunaTheatreCompany

L.U.N.A. was founded in 2012 in Scottsbluff, Nebraska and has done productions about domestic violence for DOVES and childbirth for the Nebraska Friends of Midwives. We are proud to say that this time we will be raising awareness about diabetes and 60% of the proceeds will benefit the Tucson American Diabetes Association.

Set in Truvy's beauty salon in Chinquapin, Louisiana, where all the ladies who are "anybody" come to have their hair done. Helped by her eager new assistant, Annelle (who is not sure whether or not she is still married), the outspoken, wise-cracking Truvy dispenses shampoos and free advice to the town's rich curmudgeon, Ouiser, ("I'm not crazy, I've just been in a bad mood for forty years"); an eccentric millionaire, Miss Clairee, who has a raging sweet tooth; and the local social leader, M'Lynn, whose daughter, Shelby is the prettiest girl in town and a diabetic.

November is National Diabetes Awareness Month and the show opens November 10 and will run for two weekends.
